Iriomoteri Yamaneko Cat

Iriomoteri Yamaneko cats exist in only one place in the world, the Ryukyuri Islands.   Actually, even more specifically, they exist on only one island within the island chain, but its a secret. We keep it that way for several reasons but primarily because so few of the cats are spotted at any given time.   It is known within the Natural World that Iriomoteri cats practice and possess such powerful magics that if those outside the islands caught wind of them, they would likely invade and attempt to take them all in one sweep, and the world would be far worse off than it is.   Iriomoteri cats are small, distinctly furred cats that have specially shaped tails and distinct markings. They have ears that are slightly more rounded than your standard Ryukyuri neko, a short tail that is 'flattish' shaped (no, not like a beaver, but you would notice it as odd on sight), and a 'masking' around their face.   They are primarily nocturnal and have a propensity for wandering around until they grow older, which then we might consider them 'settled' and a connected human would find them nearby frequently. Iriomoteri cats are not known to select a human like the Ryukyuri Rail does, but some people living on the island note that one individual may stay around for quite some time. Little do they know, the Iriomoteri cat frequenting the human who has noticed has selected their cooking as the cats enjoy human cooking, so this may be a reflection on the human 'friends' cooking skill more than anything else.   Journal note from Master Instructor Researcher Yagiri: It is generally accepted that the Iriomoteri cats posses the skill of invisibility and teleportation (interdimensional?), however distance and time is unknown as of this writing. I would be abhorred of hearing of another scientist attempting experiments on these creatures, in fact on a personal note, I would seek the individuals out and deal with them as I deem appropriate...   One word of caution if you decide to venture out and meet these creatures, ensure you wear some form of mask of air filtration device. Iriomoteri cats are known for giving off a strong odor and have sometimes been seen 'peeing' on trees, rocks, or other inanimate objects to 'mark' them as part of their territory. This scent can also ward off evil spirits (none are noted in the vicinity of either the scents or the cats themselves).
