The Archive

"Knowledge itself is power."
— Francis Bacon

Okay, out of all of them, these guys are the least dangerous. Or at least they were but we'll set that aside for the moment. The Archive has been around for a long time, it's one of the oldest groups out there. They like to style themselves as the preservers of the past and history, the saviors of knowledge for the future. Though no one seems to know exactly what this future is that they are stockpiling all this knowledge for. They seem to be, as far as I've been able to put together, trying to put together a perfect catalog of all people, places, things and events that happen or exist. Which immediately has my suspicion because why would they want such a thing, what value does it hold. People don't do something for no reason, there is always a reason. No group is selfless, and anyone that says they are is lying. Still, the majority of what they get up to is basically voyeurism. They observe, watch and record everything. Literally everything. That doesn't mean they have people with cameras and microphones on every corner. They don't need to do that as much anymore.

I have it on good authority that they have been one of the major forces pushing the advancement of technology throughout history. Each and every method of recording anything down for posterity, if you look hard enough you'll find traces leading back to The Archive. Satellites, the space race, the moon landing (which wasn't faked but it was a cover for the Archive to install a monitoring station on the moon), all of it was designed to set up a system of monitoring the entire planet. Fast forward to the creation of the internet and everything that came out from it. Think about it, what was one of the first major pieces of software developed for the internet? The search engine, a way to search through a database of information. Then social media, a psy-op designed for the sole purpose of convincing us to report on ourselves. The Archive has dozens of companies connected to hundreds more, all of them feeding information back to them to be recorded and stored forever.

That's only dealing with the normal methods of information gathering, which is the least of their capabilities. I know for a fact that there are shelves of books, each book representing a person's life, and sometimes an entire shelf is devoted to a single person. And these books aren't written by anyone, they are simply written. Archivists are sent out to gather information and record people and places and events. This recording can take the form of writing things down, filming it, taking pictures or just watching and remembering. I've seen an Archivist that I know for a fact is dead, walking around like nothing is wrong, and I don't think they've come back to life either. I think they are simply not at the end of their life yet, even though I have seen it happen. The way they record things, and sometimes people and places and events, is different. It might be immediately after, or it might be years down the road, but eventually, someone from The Archive will come and take away a thing that is of interest or importance to them. It will get brought into the Archive and stored. Don't think too hard about what that means for anything that isn't a thing.

Okay, so they watch and record everything, that could be a problem if they are using this information. Are they? No. The Archive does not get involved in anyone else's business beyond observing and recording. They are Switzerland, neutral and safe. At least, they were. That's changed recently, something happened which has caused some of the leadership of the Archive to decide to actually get involved in things. Not all of the leadership, there's still at least one person who doesn't agree with this new direction, but his voice is overruled by the other two. Up until recently no one ever thought to make preparations against the Archive (except for me) but now they are scrambling to do just that. Which only goes to prove what I've always said all along. Just because someone is a certain way now, doesn't mean they'll always be that way.
