Illuna

Civilization and Culture

History

Illuna are one of the four progenitor races (Illuna, Giants, Salauqukea, and Dragons). As to their origins and downfall are completely unknown. It is rumored that the Dragons once knew and that the Salauqukea know but the information is lost among their madness.   Ruins of their great civilization can be found around the world but the language of the Illuna eludes consistent translation as using translation magic on their language drives the caster mad, either immediately or slowly over their careers. Even with this translation, there is no easy way to record what these translations are, this is one of the many mysteries of the Illuna. Even among all of the writings that have been found from the Illuna, none speak of their disappearance.   Even among their artwork, there is very little record of what they looked like or what their culture was like. It is assumed that they were incredibly religious as they existed in a time where the gods directed far more often in society. Their artwork depicts scenes of great religious events, many of which have informed scholars much about the universe, including the idea of The Great Tree, Ifiron. While these concepts are talked about, their direct application or proof remains limited.   The most sought after aspect of Illuna knowledge is their old artifacts and ancient magics. Some of the most powerful artifacts found in the cosmos are Illuna in origin and the secrets to crafting these items are highly sought after. There are a number of items and places that have been influenced by what scholars have called Illuna High Magic. Examples of these are the Glad's Emel and the ancient prison under the Southern Spear found by the Lich Hunters in the story Masks of the Dead. How these ancient spells were cast have been lost to time, but scholars hope to uncover their secrets through careful study of Illuna ruins.
