Conclave Convention Hall

Purpose / Function

When the Conclave of Races was first established, rules were laid down for the organization of the Conclave. A building had been built for the sole purpose of acting as a neutral ground for the Conclave. There, no individual was to be harmed and could seek asylum from authorities. This was upheld by the Conclave Convention Guard who maintained the safety of the hall.   This would also be the location in which all official Conclave correspondents and ledgers were to be held. They were to be protected and organized to maintain security throughout the Conclave. It would be here that all meetings of the Conclave Councilors would meet every several months to discuss Conclave policies.   The building is able to house and feed nearly 800 people, councilors and their attendants, for extended stays. Rarely does the building reach capacity and only a couple of times each year.

Alterations

As the Conclave grew, so too did the Hall. Extensions to the living quarters and the grounds have been made numerous times over the millennia. The building underwent a massive rebuilding in the year 4592c to make more efficient use out of the area and structures.

Architecture

The hall is made in several parts. The main convention hall is built of stone on the exterior carved in a unique style that was meant to capture all people of Itherion in its design, though this was not how it had been. The interior of the building holds an array of styles using all sorts of materials with the primary ones being stone and magically preserved wood.   The resident buildings change numerous times as it has been seen fit by the councilors and the staff of the Conclave. At the current times, the different residential buildings are made in the home-style of the current sitting Councillors. This ranges from underground stone buildings to wooden sitting treehouses.

History

At the birth of the Conclave, the place the Hall would be is where the ruins of the Sorcerer King's castle lay. Using the very stones from the old castle, the Hall was built. The Convention Hall at first had one building, which took a year to complete (along with clearing the debris of the old castle). After the first several city-states started to join the Conclave and the meetings started taking longer, the Conclave realized the need for consistent residencies. These were first very minor buildings, made like any other homes. Eventually, Council members started to pour their personal funds into bettering the accommodations.   With further funding from taxation, the halls gained a much larger staff and started to need to house them. They also added on a records hall that would become a highly secure vault to store documents in as the convention hall was beginning to lack space.   Over the next 4 millennia, these buildings would have been repaired and remade numerous times. The last time the main buildings for the Conclave was remodeled was in 4592c with the architect Thisatin Emberguard who was commissioned by the Conclave to do a final remodel. The building was crafted with magic, making weathering and damage irrelevant. Using special magic, the vault was given a near-infinite storage space using dimensional magic. While the residential buildings have been constantly maintained, the main convention halls have never had to be rebuilt since.

I love how old this building is - I wonder if there's stories about it being haunted? It must have gone through so many changes throughout the years.   I really like the detail about the architect doing a final remodel, with anti-weathering and stuff. Hopefully they won't need to make more changes in a millenia!

I'm sure there are ghost stories, especially for the living quarters. Most of them are probably false at this point since they have the resources to fix any actual paranormal issues.
