Zarithian Ethnicity in Idyll | World Anvil

Zarithian

So, what are the people living here called?
August
The Zarithian's are the people native to the settlement of Zarinth. The demographic is mostly Dragons but the other demographics have been growing in later years.

HOARDS

The original Dragons were hoarders, the dragons who are alive today say that the species have grown past those tendencies. They have not. Many dragons still have hoards, but they pretend that they do not.   Long ago the dragons didn't live in settlements. They traveled over the entirety of Idyll. Some dragon families traveled with the seasons.   The settlement of Zarinth used to be a trading post where dragons landed to trade with each other. It wasn't until a couple of dragon families settled there long term that it became a settlement. When an Other came and showed them how to mine, the dragons found gems.   Now, these gems decorate many a hoard. The gems are also exported for use in jewelry both for decoration and magical use. These gems are highly sought after as the Zarithians are the only ones who knows how to mine.

GENDER IDEALS

As most people of this ethnicity are Dragons the culture is based on the biology of dragons. All children who have not had their Maturity Ceremony are viewed as sexless and will be referred to as "Za/Zan". After the ceremony, they will be referred to as their gender.

NAMING TRADITIONS

It is an old tradition among dragons to have a "z" in their names. Thus this culture which is full of dragons also has this as a tradition. Even non-dragons name their children with these names. However, some names are not acceptable for non-dragons. The ones that start with a "Z".

SPREAD

Most Zarithians live in Zarinth since Idyll is not a world where you travel much. Though, that is only if you aren't a dragon. Which means that non-dragon Zarithians are almost only found in Zarinth while some dragon Zarithians live in other settlements in the rest of the The Center of the World and even in the Valley of The Sun, The Carmine Valley and The Sand Bowl.
