Korain

Background

God of Judgement and Righteousness, Korain was the second deity to be created by The Lost Gods & Goddesses. With his creation, The Lost Gods & Goddesses instilled in him a perfect understanding of 'right' & 'wrong' so that he may always be a beacon to his siblings and those who would later worship him.

Korain has been influencing Idoria, not by creating a moon or star, but by gifting mortals with a moral compass so that they may be as righteous as he is and so they may rise above the beasts of the world to become greater beings.

He gains power through the use of morality by mortals. Each precise judgement, every kind word, and all of the acts of righteousness empower him and his followers.

His Worship

Commonly, his worshippers follow his example by doing good deeds & attempting to lead others to repentance. This, however, is typically taken at face-value by his followers. Instead of doing good things because they're good, his followers frequently do good deeds as a way to prove to others that their moral compass is 'better' or 'more-closely aligned with Korain's'. Ironically many of those that push others to repentance desperately need it, themselves.

Temples

An oddity amongst The Nine Divines, Korain typically doesn't have temples; rather, he insists upon his folowers to do good in their every day lives and to pass fair & righteous judgement instead of building fancy buildings in his name. Because of this, his followers have instead opted to dedicate courthouses, and sometimes even prisons, in his name. This way they can have Korain's blessing as judgement is passed.

Due to many followers missing the point of passing righteous judgement, it is not uncommon that the courts- a place typically dedicated in Korain's name- are filled with such hypocrites. This can lead to the courts being poisoned by self-righteousness & those eager to pass any sort of judgement that would make them appear higher than those judged.

Shrines

Despite not having temples, Korain does, in fact, have shrines. Typically located within the courthouses, those who work the courts give a sacred prayer before each trial for maximum clarity as well as accurate judgement.

"Korain, your judgement pure. Bless us with guidance and righteousness, that we may act in-place of thyself." -Prayer of Judgement

Symbol

Korain's symbol is frequently depicted as a copper scale, identical to those of merchants or treasurers. Originally intended to be accompanied by a statuette of Korain holding the scale in one hand and a sword in the other to depict his judgement being passed, it has since been reduced to just the scale as it is easier to fabricate & draw. Nay-sayers also like to jest that they did away with the statuette so they could pass more-faulty judgement without the guilt of Korain staring into their souls.

As scales are not the most transportable of items, it's not uncommon to find pendants, shiels, or clothing painted with the scale on it as a smaller, more portable, symbol of one's faith. Although, whenever possible, followers of Korain prefer a physical scale to display instead of a painting of one.

His symbol is commonly shown as a copper scale, so that his followers may weigh all options & possibilities before passing judgement.
