Old Gods

Beings created out of Gaia's perception of what she saw when she first gained her consciousness. These beings are called Ilu and Ili, represent night, day, dusk, dawn, death, sun, moon, morning star and evening star. They are the personification, as well as the concepts themselves.   Ilu and Ila are beings of high and detachment, unseen and incomprehensible by mortal eyes and minds. If they so please, the Ilu and Ili may appear before certain individuals in humanoid forms, but any attempt of contact they do not approve will result in the blindness or even insanity of the summoners.   The Old Gods are emotionless, desireless and wantless. Even-though they are the archetype that inspired the majority of human's pantheon, the Ilu and Ili do not need human's faith to sustain their being. They exist as long as Gaia exists, with or without humans.   The Old Gods hold a generally aloof view towards humans, with a certain degree of curiosity. They do not interfere with human affairs, and humans are not their creation thus not their responsibility. Still the Ilu and Ili would descend as observers and left offspring among humans.

Summary

When Gaia, the soul and core spirit of our mother planet Earth, the Amakiagal (great earth mother) first opened her eyes, she saw darkness, the endless dark blue vault inlaid with silver shimmers. Our earth mother exhaled an admiration, that was when Amainna, the dark mother, the goddess of Night, was born. Then the great mother saw light, the blinding whiteness that thinned the navy to azure, hence came Addānu, the sky father, god of day. Then the wheel of day and night turned, the first shade of night was named Agirinnu, the Herald of Darkness, god of dusk. The first ray of day, Aladea, the Light Bringer, the goddess of dawn. The first four, night, day, dusk and dawn were the Prime Dome, Markers of Time, Ilugal and Iligal.   Night gazed into the endless darkness and saw the End, the Inevitable, and a son was born from the revelation. The Dark Mother placed a veil on his face and called him Kanu, the gloomy one, he who will bring the End. Day gazed afar, but in the darkness, he saw light. A son was born, the Sky Father placed a crown on his head and named him Zahallu, the golden one, the keeper of light, the god of sun.   Amakigal could not stand the tears of her first born. She demanded a ray from Zahallu and gifted it to Inna. The dark mother joyfully placed the light among the shimmers. The brightest of all stars, Litâ (li-Tah) the silver one, the goddess of moon now forever illuminates the dark vault.   Dawn begot a son, the morning star, his name was lost and as was his story. Dusk begot a daughter, Šera (sheh-Rah), the shimmer one, the evening star, the dream weaver.    The second five were the second comers, Ilu and Ili.
