What is the Eternal War?
Ever since the the beginning of the Age of Defiance, a deity king of devils simply known as the Infernal King waged war against humanity in an effort to bring chaos and destruction to the world of Hyte Eart. On top of the fact humanity was also in a war of rebellion against the holy order of angels lead by the Redeemer King, the world was on the verge of its very destruction. However, that is when a new powerful ruler would banish the ruling hands of angels back to the Plane of Scriptures and freeze the Infernal King in a prison of ice deemed as Frozen Hell. This event would be the first act of the Day of Ascension that would bring new order to the land of Hyte Eart under the watchful eyes of Ultima, the Ascended One.
However, this solution was to keep the world from being destroyed, not to stop the invasion of the Infernal Army. For 3000 years, the kingdom of Trityus has stood as humanity's sole defender against the Infernal Army, continuing to stand strong on the war torn lands of what was once the kingdom of Titan. During the 3000 years of war, historic tales would be born and told to every ear across Trityus. Stories such as the Lich Dragon Aneheria, Titan's destruction, and Olivia's Final Hold. But no matter the stories of victories and failures, the war still remains. Blood is still shed, demons are still born, and soldiers are bred to fight on behalf of humanity for what seems like all eternity.
But this story the you are about to embark on could be the last story of this war. So pick up your swords and staffs, for one king must fall to finally end this Eternal War.
Trityus Setting
Trityus is a large kingdom located in the south-west of Hyte Eart where a majority of humanity resides. The kingdom is split into two authorities that answer to to the current human ruler, King Albert Shavaren III. The first authority is the Council of Ulterior Magnomia that controls Southern Trityus and the settlements that stay outside the war's reach. The second is the Trityus Military Authority that controls part of Northern Trityus and is the authority in charge of the fight against the invading Infernal Army. All the settlements to the north of Olivia Hold have been altered to serve the war effort as well as keeping Trityus safe from the monsters that come from A'N to the east of the kingdom.
Who am I and What Do I Seek?
You will start the campaign out as a new recruit in the Trityus Military with hopes in aiding the war effort. The Trityus Military is calling aid from all humans in this time struggle, whether you be from the glorious capital of Trityus Metropolis or the far away lands of Gondit, to help aid in the war effort. Whether your intentions be good or evil, you seek to serve the front lines and offer help to put an end to this war.
Below are some following examples on why you wish to join the front lines:
- You seek path of honor and glory
- You seek to rich from aiding the military
- You seek to help those that are suffering on the front lines everyday
- You seek to gain status in the Trityus Kingdom
- You seek hidden knowledge, whether it be about the Ascended One, the Eternal Flames, or other forgotten legends
- You seek violence, a bloodlust only the war can fulfill
- You seek find power, in hopes to one day overthrow the Ascended One themself
The Deal With Tieflings
Tieflings are humanoids with ancestry that connects themselves to the Eternal Flames. Many enemies in the Infernal Army are tieflings and have taken part of slaughters against humanity. As a result, Trityus sees tieflings as devils of hell and are to be treated to execution. However, not all tieflings are evil, as places like Haven have given them rights and refuge from the Eternal War.
If you chose to play a Tiefling, you will need to have some way to keep yourself disguised and hidden away from the laws and people of Trityus. I do not enjoy restricting races from players to chose from but this fact is still vital to the campaign's story.
So if you wish to play a Tiefling, speak with me so we can work out a background that fits the character you envision without getting your character executed session 1.
What do I get on Creation?
Here is the following checklist you need to complete before we begin the campaign:
- Your character's race
- Your character's background
- Your character's class at level 3
- 2 of the following consumables: Potion of Climbing, Potion of Healing, or Spell Scroll Cantrip/1st level of your Choice.
- One Free Feat provided at at level 1
- Look over and be prepared to follow the House Rules provided in this link: List of House Rules
Optional: Session 0
Before we begin this campaign, you will be given a chance to join me in a session 0 for just your character that puts you on the path to joining the Trityus Military. This will be a hour to an hour and a half session where you will be on a previous adventure before the events of Session 1. Whether you succeed or fail, this will a be chance to get used to the Foundry program as well as getting to know how my DM style goes. This is also a fun way to build up your background for your character and just a overall extra experience to enjoy the campaign by. This is optional and you can chose to skip this, instead opting your character to already succeed in this task.
