Light Spirits most commonly take the form of animals, such as squirrels (Light Spirit Adai), deer (Light Spirit Rubrai), or snakes (Light Spirit Mubra).

There have been rumors of people attempting to steal the Light and Magic from these Light Spirits. There has only been one recorded instance where they have actually succeeded in doing so.

Light Spirits tend to space themselves evenly throughout the realm of Hyrule, protecting their separate provinces.

Naming Traditions

While it's assumed that the Light Spirits were named by Hylia or the other Goddesses, themselves, the provinces around them are named after them.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

The only language that the Light Spirits have been heard speaking so far is Hylian, but this is because no other races besides Hylians have been known to come into contact with them. Some believe that they are capable of speaking any language they wish.

History

The Light Spirits were first created by the Goddesses to protect the Light of Hyrule. No one really knows when they were first created, as some believe they have taken different forms throughout Hyrule's history: not just animals, but as children, or faeries. Within recorded history, however, they have always appeared as animals.
These guardians have become cultural icons over time, and have been celebrated for centuries. In early history, the Light Spirits would even make appearances at the festivals held in their honor. However, in recent years, there has been a marked decline in their appearances. Some believe that they've fled Hyrule and gone back to the Sacred Realm, still protecting the Light of Hyrule, but unwilling to watch its people tear each other apart in the civil war to claim the throne.

Historical Figures

Past Light Spirits include who some believe were the four original spirits: Ordona, Faron, Lanayru, and Eldin. However, these names have now passed into myth and legend, and some even believe that they never existed, as they aren't around today.

• Light Spirit Mubra
• Light Spirit Adai
• Light Spirit Vildun

Common Myths and Legends

The most famous story told about the Light Spirits is when their light was stolen by The Usurper King Zant, throwing Hyrule into the Twilight. However, they and their light were saved by the Hero of Time in wolf form, along with Queen Midna.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

All Light Spirits are white, with swirling markings across their bodies that can only be described as pure, pulsing light.
