Crooked Sheathe Item in Hypnosium | World Anvil

Crooked Sheathe

How It Works

The Crooked Sheathe has one to three compartments in the curved end that can each be filled with ichor, a poison, or fire powder.   Pressing one of the three hidden button built neat the top of the sheath, will apply the substance within the corresponding compartment to be applied to the sheathed weapon.   Each drawing of the weapon can have a different substance added to the weapon allowing a greater variety of effects.

The Cost

It requires a master crafter to make these mechanical sheathes.   Each compartment beyond the first one a sheathe will greatly increase its value.   As these sheathes are most prized amongst the goblins, they are often very decorative as well and that alone can raise the cost even more.

The Limitations

A sheathe that has one compartment can contain 12 applications of whichever substance it holds.   Those with two compartments contain 6 applications each while the sheathes with three compartments only hold 4 applications each.

Origin
Goblins, being the small folk that they are, have always looked for any advantage agains the bigger things in the world. This has led to a deep and abiding love for tainting their weapons. This has led to the crafting of the sheathes that will apply a substance to the weapon housed within. Even better, with the sheathe doing the applying, there is less chance the goblin will accidentally apply it to themselves.   Over the centuries, these sheathes have become a tradition for every goblin to possess. It takes a master crafter to make a Crooked Sheathe. Sliezbykt has aligned himself with a master crafter who, for a mysticla price, keeps him supplied with Crooked Daggers.
