Azuri Council

Azuri Council is the organization that leads the Azurièl kingdom.

History

A long time ago, the Agaerlnièl kingdom was ruled by a powerful warlock, named Azuri. She ruled the kingdom with an iron fist. She claimed that the one and only God, Homogy'el, appointed her as the rightful ruler. As her grip on the kingdom increased, she renamed the kingdom to Azurièl. She then formed the Azuri Council, which would oversee a tournament to build a strong army.

Structure

The Council is split up into three branches:
  1. The committee, which oversees the internal council processes.
  2. The military leaders, which includes the leader of the kingdom.
  3. The executive branch, which keep the kingdom running.

Committee

The Committee is filled with devout believers in Homogy'el. Most of their time is spent as leadership of the church. They wear ornate white robes with golden accents and trimming. In the center of the robe is the holy symbol of Homogy'el: a two-handed sword, pointing down, also colored gold.   At the center of their faith is the belief that in a distant past, there was only a single human kingdom and that they should spare no effort in reuniting the lands into a single kindom. Homogy'el has promised victory in this endevour and so they shall follow His wish and conquer for starters their close neighbors: the Askaria kingdom and the Aleksondrièl empire.   Azuri organized a competition to draw out the most talented warriors in her realm, with the committee overseeing the proceedings. Through a network set up by the church, they can easily find those looking to prove themselves in the next competition. Once the time has come for the next competition, either by order of the leader of the kingdom or because this leader was defeated, they gather all these warriors. The current military leaders have to participate as well, to prove they are still worthy of their rank. They then make sure the competition is held in a reasonable fashion and keep track of each warrior. At the end of the competition, new military ranks are given to the warriors that impressed them and the winner gets to be the leader of Azurièl. The rest, if they survived that is, can decide to join the military as normal soldiers or try their luck in the next competition, which is generally many years later.

Military leaders

The primary purpose of the military leaders is to organize the next attack. Since the war is currently at a stalemate at Azmarin, this basically means trying to conquer the city. Although some leaders tried different approaches, for example attacking by sea, but without much success.   The winner of the competition is granted dictatorship of Azurièl itself. Few winners are actually interested in ruling, leaving the executive branch to their own devices. But if they so wish, they have complete dictatorial control over the kingdom. The last winner of the competition was Jidoth.

Executive branch

The executive branches ensure the kingdom doesn't fall into complete disarray. While the committee has the power to choose the next dictator, and the dictator can rule however they please, it is the executive branch that holds most power in the day-to-day business. Claiming much power for itself, the executive branch is a cutthroat place with high levels of corruption.   Any merchant aspiring more wealth can reach the executive branch if their political power, or their economic power for that matter, is strong enough. This attainability exacerbates the corruption within the executive branch.
