Valeria Chersviç

The Grey Empress

Concerning Chersviç

About Valeria

Valeria is the daughter of a loving father who worked in the steel industry and a mother who where a seamstress. She wasn't the only child, she had two younger sisters and a younger brother.

Her family originated from the Ukraine, back in the day, long before the 2000er years. It wasn't a good life, even in Germany. They moved a lot, going where the work was. Means where her father had to go. That resulted in problems with her siblings in school, social life, false friends, drugs and bad decisions.

The only reasonable person was her mother who died from lung cancer. They couldn't afford the treatment, not even with the help of the governmental insurance companies, so she suffered until the end. Valeria swore that she would make up for her sibling and wanted to help her father. She was so determined to provide a better life for her siblings, that she had an early contact with an Unspeakable. Mostly in her dreams, but that was enough to unlock some of her potential.

Her grades were above average and she got soon into a conservative political party, first as a novice so to say, but after she had made the deal with the Unspeakable - now during her waking times - she saw her potential. But first she started to live, providing an income above average to her siblings until they could stand on their own feet. She travelled for a few years, gathered knowledge and came back, a different person. Not a girl anymore, but a woman. It caused ripples in the party, stirred the conservatives, but with the influence of the Unspeakable she got a few people on her side and rose through the ranks until she was made political leader.

The Ukraine War shattered her heart, filled it with anger and despair. Not only for the war, but for the culture, the people and the identity of the Ukraine. She wanted to help the Ukraine and the world. Hunger, pollution, draughts weren't so far away and the climate crisis a real thing. So she had to act.

In the time before her election to the leader of her political party she visited the Wendelstein 7-X, the first experimental fusion reactor which was prone to get into production. She didn't believe it so she had to see it by herself. She knew enough of the principles behind it and so she met John and Alira, the driving force behind it.

As they explained to her how they wanted to archieve the goal of getting Wendelstein 7-X into production, Valeria saw the future and acted. With the help of fellow researchers and a dedicated steel manufacturer they invented a material which could withstand the enormous heat in the fusion reactor and the reaction chamber.

She poured a huge amount of money into the project, even against the will of her party, but well... she had powers on her side. Not intended, but welcome was the presence of John and Alira. They had a glorious mind and looked good and by the Old Gods, they smelled so nice.

Valeria saw a few huge problems in the lands of Germany and Europa in general. Well, more than only a few huge problems, but one at the time. The biggest problem was that Germany was divided into several political parties and so projects and laws weren't finished properly and not thought about it the right way. Or even executed.

She had to make a thing. A plan. Steps to make, people to bribe or to pull to her side. But she needed also people she can trust without the help of an Unspeakable. Her siblings were not as reliable as she had hoped, so she turned to John and Alira. She told them her plan to build an Empire from what was left of the german political parties and unify Germany once again. Without having a literal genocide somewhere in between.

It was not an easy task, but the couple agreed to help her. But none of them would kill or threaten someone in pursuit of this goal and Valeria was fine with that. She had her own resources and with a bit of money she had her own house painters. With a bit of political harrassement - yeah, I call it that way! -, a few accidents here and there and some promises it was only a matter of short time that she was voted to Chancellor; one year into her position she declared that the German Republic was no more and they now were known as the Valerian Empire. Self-insertion all the way!

The Grey Empress

Valeria got the title "Empress" because of the form of government, but the larger title "Grey Empress" was mostly because she wore dresses in red, black and grey. Her favourite colours were grey, black, purple, red and blue, but since the most parts of her wardrobe were grey/black/silver, the public gave her the title of "Grey Empress".

Personally Valeria had no interest in a long-term relationship. She had too much to do like building an Empire. Declaring rules, laws, setting up positions, funneling money and favours in the right direction. The problem was that she was married twice. Her first husband died because of food poisoning and the second one cheated on her - on her, can you believe it? I mean, look at her, listen to her! - so she had enough of men for a while.

So she was a happy single with a lot of work to do as she elected herself as Empress. From time to time she had some small relationships with a few females in her palace - a few months after it was built - but nothing lasting. With John and Alira she had something which could be called a loving relationship.

Being an Empress and surrounded by counselors Valeria was lonely most of the time. Large halls, a lot of busy people, but no one she could trust for a long time. No one where she could lower her defenses and be just herself. I mean, I can relate to that. No one to talk to is a thing and when you have to shoulder the responsibility for an entire Empire - starting from Germany and then later spanning the entire world - your soul is under constant pressure.

So Valeria paints and writes. Nothing to serious, just small things coming from her mind. She also tried to create jewelery, but had not the time for a third time consuming hobby.

Sometimes she cries in the deep of the night. For her mother, for the lost souls during the now ended Ukraine War, for her soul, for John and Alira and all the people she couldn't save. And when her heart aches and her soul is in pain, she reaches out to the small pendant around her neck to call for her loved ones.

As the Grey Empress of humanity she has to muster the courage to speak with new alien races. Alira might be the Ambassador, but Valeria also has to speak with them. And some of those races gave her nightmares.
