Personal history
Brigid and her twin brother Laho grew up in a small Waystay near the western edge of the Southern Reaches. She remembers almost nothing of her father, who died during her childhood. Brigid contracted the F1D9 virus when she reached the age of thirteen. Her mother did all she could to keep it a secret. Getting ill from the virus had become rare but still happened, and when it did, people treated those inflicted like abominations.
When she survived, her gifts didn't manifest right away. They didn't appear until three years later when a rash formed on a young child's face. Out of fear, ridicule, and fear of the virus would come for the child Brigid closed her eyes, placing her hands on the child's face she prayed to the heavens. Her efforts healed the boy. From then on, she attempted to keep her abilities secret healing only when no one noticed.
She and her brother moved through life hand and handed until an Aberr arrived at the Waystay. The people discovered him, and in his effort to escape, he killed her mother. From then on, Brigid wanted nothing to do with her gifts. Then Samedi arrived.
