Otche Fnezze

Transmission & Vectors

Otche Fnezze has airborne transmission, based on the release of a new chemical weapon Acid Orange.  It can be transmitted to anyone breathing unfiltered air within a mile of the original deployment of said weapon, and if caught on a windy day, that transmission circle can increase to up to five miles.  Otche Fnezze is not contagious (person to person transmittion).

Causes

The gas in the chemical weapon Acid Orange eats away at the sinus linings and air passages in a way that previous chemical weapons Acid Red and Acid Blue never did before, causing soars in the sinus system that can rupture and melt a person's airways.  The poisoning does not happen right away for humans, but slowly needing either prolonged exposure or exposure to signigicantly large quantities before the condition becomes fatal.

Symptoms

In minor cases, the symptoms mimic a really bad case of allergies (congestion, postnasal drip, relentless cough, and difficulty breathing).  These can range anywhere from you can live with it to needing to see a doctor for. While you can live with these constant symptoms, the disease makes breathing very painful. In more severe cases, the sours in the sinus system and airways can burst causing coughing up of blood and the need for a machine to help you breathe, and in most cases death (drowning in your own fluids).

Treatment

In minor cases, if caught in time, respiratory treatments can be deployed to turn the boils in the airway to scar tissue to stop them from rupturing (this of course still leads to trouble breathing, but it's better than certain death if not treated).  The use of a hydroponic healing chamber can minimize the scar tissue in it's respiratory treatment to be almost negligible.

Prognosis

In the most minor of cases, the subject can live up to a decade (a very painful decade - which leads to increased suicides in people who have caught minor cases of the disease).  In more severe cases, it can kill a subject within the hour of exposure.  Getting Otche Fnezze is fatal in 100 percent of cases, it's only a matter of how quickly it will kill you.

Prevention

The best prevention of this disease, and all airborne chemical diseases, is to wear a gas mask when venturing outside, or into any unventilated, unfiltered indoor places.  Doctors are working on a vaccine but funding is slow in coming as the disease only affects people who have breathed in the toxic gas (and therefore it effectively only affects people in the warzone.
