The Silver Marches Organization in How to be a Great GM's 200 player game | World Anvil

The Silver Marches

The first GoMP session will take place in a high magic fantasy setting. The place setting is The Silver Marches and you are all members of either the standing army or the civilian militia. There have been some strange occurrences within the City Marches as well as reports of trouble from the Neighbouring kingdom of Mabob. Members of the army and the militia have been formed into squads to investigate these disturbances. Each squad is led by a captain (your GM) which report to a commander.

Demography and Population

The Silver Marches is one of the oldest states in the federation and so is founded by humans. However, after the hybrid rebellions and the founding of the federation, many animal kin chose to move here, There is a thriving community of mostly lizard folk in the swamps to the south. Humans, Dog folk, cat folk, lizard folk and rat folk make up most of the population of The Silver Marches but there is a sizable dwarf and elf population too. Most other races are not uncommon either.

Territories

The Silver Marches are bordered by ocean on the west and south and mountain ranges to the north and east. All the land in this region are under the control of the City state.

Military

The Silver Marches has a standing army and a civilian militia. The army can be called upon to lend aid to the federation but the militia serve the city state only. The guilds in the city each have a small house-guard as well, that can be called upon to defend the city if the need arises.

Religion

Most Marchers worship the Twin Gods or the Goddess but people are free to follow whichever religion they choose. After the defeat of Yeth Radak any religion relating to the undead or necromancy was strictly forbidden.

Agriculture & Industry

The Silver Marches, although small compared to some of the other city states in the federation, boasts diverse resources. Fertile farmlands to the west of the City produce grain and a variety of fruits. The long coastline provides plentiful seafood and pearls of high quality. Rare plants and herbs can be found in the marshes and swamp lands. The Silver marches is also well known for it's dyes harvested from the swamps and ocean. The most famous thing about the Silver Marches though are it's libraries. Threddin Hoarfrost, the Primarch of The silver Marches, has spent most of his life building up the libraries and encouraging scholars and writers to the city.

Trade & Transport

The Shimar river runs through the middle of the silver marches, down to the ocean. The City itself sits on a rise of land that the river splits around, this makes the Silver Marches an important trade port. Goods are shipped from the various states of the federation, through the Silver Marches to the sea and then onto many destinations in the world. The valley between the eastern mountains allows one of the only routes for overland trade with the east and many merchants use this trade route.
