Age of Durek - Sunrise Period

400AP

At the beginning of the 5th century, the church became worried at their dwindling attendance numbers. Durek's steps to improve Battle Balt popularity had proved more successful than he had expected.   A new cultural phenomenon surfaced - The balter celebrity. Imperials were now placing greater significance on watching their favourite Battle Balt combatants than praying to the White Lord.   The Church needed to stop this development and prepared for a fight.

An astute Durek understood the problem and pro-actively sought an audience with the Church to alleviate their concerns. He presented them a business proposition explaining the merits of Battle Balt as an opportunity to grow and not a threat.   In consultation with the Queen it was agreed a White Lord statue would be the face at every battle balt contest. The church loved the idea and immediately commissioned wizards to create dozens of White Lord statues that mirrored the Divines. Each one was then placed outside an arena to function as the scoring mechanism.   Durek's masterstoke had once again found a resolution to two disparate viewpoints - Religion and Battle Balt became synchronously joined.
