Executive Protection Group

The EPG is the polite term for the security detail of the C-level executives (and the CEO in particular) of the HDC. These men and women are highly augmented, trained and supported by the ability of the HDC. Early in Olivia North's tenure as CEO, the EPG was little more than a formality. As the situation on Bliss and the other Core World deteriorated, increasingly provocative moves were made against North's life. This lead to the restructuring and expansion of the EPG from a passive security force to a paramilitary bodyguard squad with a huge support team. Rumors exist that the EPG Is also a hit squad. The veracity of this during North’s tenure is almost certainly wrong, the rumors persist and under the current leadership are more believable. Exact details on the EPG are obscured even at the highest levels of the HDC, paranoia and compartmentalization make it likely that even the director of the EPG us unaware of the exact details of the group. This, of course, presents the possibility that miscommunication and a false-flag attack could be used against the HDC by people claiming to be members of the EPG, the HDC has avoided this problem so far. Whatever truths exist about the Executive Protection Group, they are hidden behind a bodyguard of lies and the well organized machinery of a group as large at the HDC. Individuals wanting to join the EPG have to meet a rigorous set of qualifications, not only in terms of physical and martial performance, but also background and psych evaluations. Members are also often recruited and occasionally find out that they are part of the EPG after an activity has happened that they supported. Thus far the protean nature of the EPG has prevented any effective infiltration of the group or harm to their principles.
