Vulpin

Foxfolk, Foxkin

Vulpin - Humblewood

  • Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
  • Age. Vulpins mature at an average pace, and can be comparatively long-lived. They reach adulthood at 15 years, and live well past 90 years.
  • Alignment. Vulpins aren’t innately evil, but their difficulty empathizing with others means they are only rarely good aligned. Most vulpins find strict authority distasteful, preferring chaotic alignments over lawful ones.
  • Size. Vulpins cut dashing figures and are usually lean and muscular. They stand between 4 and a half and 5 and a half feet tall, but are relatively lightweight, weighing between 90 and 140 pounds. Your size is Medium.
  • Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision. You are adept at hunting at night. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Bite. You have sharp fangs that enable you to make natural bite attacks. You can choose to bite as an unarmed strike that deals 1d6 points of piercing damage, which can be calculated using either your Strength or Dexterity modifier for both the attack roll and damage bonus.
  • Evasive. You add your Intelligence modifier as a bonus on all Dexterity saving throws.
  • Bewitching Guile. You can cast charm person as a 1st level spell with this trait, and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast ambush prey as a 2nd level spell with this trait, and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast fear with this trait, and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
  • Languages. You can speak, read, and write Birdfolk and Vulpin.

Foxkin

  • Ability Score Increase: +1 Dexterity
  • Age: Foxkin live short, bright lives, often passing away fromold age before their 60th year. But what they lack in longevity,they make up for in energy and passion.
  • Alignment: Foxkin tend heavily towards chaos due to theirtrickster nature, and they tend towards neither evil nor good.Foxkin tend to live to satisfy their curiosity and sense ofadventure, less focused on noble goals or evil ends.
  • Size: While foxkin range wildly in size from over 6 feet tallto sometimes under 5 feet in height, your size is medium.
  • Speed: Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
  • Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of youas if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dimlight. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
  • Fox's Gifts: You are proficient in Sleight of Hand andPerception.
  • Subrace: Foxkin are normally divided into three generalsubspecies based on their coat: Red, Gray, and Desert.

Red Foxkin

Red foxkin are natural explorers, and make their home on thefrontiers and in the wild places of the world. They are also themost proliferous and charismatic of their people. Often seenas inferior by gray foxkin, they laugh off such prejudices andcontinue with their work. They naturally enjoy the companyof other races, warming quickly to their companions.
  • Ability Score Increase: +1 Charisma, +1 Constitution
  • Gifted Storyteller: When telling a story, you may add 1d4to any Deception, Performance, or Persuasion check youmake as part of telling the story.
  • Pioneering Spirit: You are proficient in one of: animalhandling, cartographer's tools, or navigator's tools.

Gray Foxkin

Gray foxkin often consider themselves to be the noblest of thespecies. While the least common of their folk, gray foxkin arenonetheless a common enough sight in crowded cities. Oftenenjoying jobs as merchants or tradesmen, a gray foxkin willgenerally retain their ideals of superiority.
  • Ability Score Increase: +2 Charisma
  • Can't Fool Me: When making an Insight check, you mayadd 1d4 to the result.
  • Tradesman: You are proficient in one kind of artisan's toolsor one instrument.

Desert Foxkin

Desert foxkin have sand-colored coats, and are by and far theshortest of all foxkin. Rarely cresting five and a half feet inheight, desert foxkin are sometimes considered an entirelyseparate species. They are a hardy folk, living through all thehardships that the desert has to offer.
  • Ability Score Increase: +2 Constitution
  • Survivalist: When making a Survival check, you may add1d4 to the result.
  • Desert Dweller: You have advantage on saves made toavoid exhaustion due to extreme heat or hot environments.
