Shimmersoap
Shimmersoap is the common name for the mucus secretions of the flail snail . Like all land mollusks, flail snails produce mucus in order to hydrate their soft bodies and lubricate their muscular foot, which they use in locomotion. This method of transportation results in the snail leaving a trail of mucus and organic waste in their wake. In the case of flail snails, this shimmersoap mucus soon hardens into near-transparent iridescent material known as shimmerglass. This substance is highly sought after for its use in alchemy, enchantment, and other arcane industries.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Shimmersoap appears as a thin, iridescent film. Unlike many other terrestrial snail mucuses, shimmersoap is prone to producing air bubbles, particularly when in a low-humidity environment.
Physical & Chemical Properties
On its own, shimmersoap functions just like any other terrestrial mollusk mucus. However, when combined with the silica waste product of the flail snail, shimmersoap gains several unique properties, which essentially render it shimmerglass.
Origin & Source
Shimmersoap is naturally produced by the mucus glands of the flail snail.
History & Usage
Refinement
Shimmersoap is useless without being combined with the waste product of a flail snail. This occurs naturally as the flail snail consumes silica-based food such as soils or crystals and as it moves across a substrate.
