The Ashcut Pass
The Ashcut pass is the only known land route to cross the Wyrmwall Mountains. It is an unnaturally flat and straight canyon directly through the mountains as if a section of the mountains 100 ft wide was simply removed from existence leaving perfectly straight canyon walls that rise from the perfectly flat floor at right angles to dizzying heights. The pass is interrupted only once by an ancient temple site that has been come to be known as The Broken Rest.
Ashcut pass is located south of the most volcanically active peak in the Wyrmwall Mountains and, as such, is sometimes subject to showers of volcanic ash. While these ashfallls are not regular, they are common enough that the pass should have been at least partially filled with volcanic cement. However, what unnatural process constructed the pass seems to have the effect of preventing its decay. Ash falls into the canyon along with rain but never seems to solidify and is eventually blown out by the winds that constantly howl through the canyon.
