Yellow head ant

WIP - Summer Camp quality. This will continue to be edited during July and likely after the prizes adjudication. CW: allusion to sexual themes, not detailed. Animal death and use of its body parts.
The yellow head ant is an insect native to a group of islands in the Samuaxi archipelagus.   It is a large species of ants, with adults reaching, at the maximus of their growth, 3 and sometimes 4 cm in lenght. Their large head is armed by two powerful mandibles that they use to cut the leaves and small branches that they use for their nests and to hunt for other insects, larvae, worms, and sometimes even small birds, mammals and reptiles.    Their namesake colour is actually present only in dying or dead specimens, when alive their head is of a dark russet colour as the rest of their body. The change of colour has causes still not completely understood, some think it is due to the vital fluids leaving the biggest compartment of their body.   When alive the ant can be fairly dangerous as their bites inject a painful venom that can cause local spasms and paralisys and multiple bites at the same time are reported to have caused the death of a few people from cardiac arrest caused by the intense pain and muscular spasm.   While the expansion of this live dangerous insect has been succesfully contained to a few, mostly deserted, island, when the ant is dead and the head is completely yellow, they are harvested by the local population because of a peculiar characteristic. Their jaws can still open and close tightly depending on the pressure put on them. This makes them a cheap and readily available medical device for the wound closure for the local population.   The nests of the ants are regularly surveyed and marked, both to avoid them, but also to find them when the useful resource is needed. The harvesters usually approach the nests with caution, careful to not disturb the insects and just collect the little bodies that the colonies gather in little ants cemetery outside of the underground den.   Batches of dead ants are also occasionally requested outside the archipelagus for different uses and sometimes paid for relatively handsomely.
