Temple of the Dawn (Sandstones)
Purpose / Function
Architecture
Like most Dawn Temples, this structure is built in a traditional 6 stepped ziggurat style. However, unlike most Dawn Temples, which are carved from large bricks of granite or white marble, this example is carved from large Sandstone blocks.
The wooden portions of the building, such as the door frames and some of the wall coverings are made from trees, in this case local palms, renowned for their light coloration and sturdiness. The wood is stained with a salt solution to protect it from aging, and enhance it's cream-white coloration.
The metal wall hangings, like in most Dawn Temples, are made from gold or polished copper, to reflect as much light as possible. While the cloth tapestries and banners are woven from dyed yellow and white wool, and laced with gold threads.
8 yellow glass skylights (2 on each side of the structure) offer natural light, as well as he East facing main doors, which let in as much of the Dawns first light as possible. Torches and candles are also used for illumination where safe and appropriate.
