Bela Mendlock

Bela Mendlock was the first born child of Talanis Mendlock and Bela Mendlock. Named after her Mother, who died in childbirth, Bela came to be the house owner and keeper while her father was out campaigning with The Great Church Armies. She had a cold relationship with her adopted brother Malik Mendlock but at the late years of her life she came to find him inseparable from her, and she gave him the house in a deed.

Life as Housekeeper

When she was at the age of thirteen, Bela's father decided to join The Great Church, and became a paladin. He called his mother, Charna Mendlock, to keep a watching eye on his daughter. It was she who told Bela that she reminded him too much of her mother, and the sadness at him ate him, so he started a new life. For Bela, who lived with her grandmother and had to run the farm herself, it was a bad excuse. She had to servant girls: Laurel and Tina, who helped her in the housework, cooking and farming, But she would soon learn that making products doesn't make coin, and she has to go to the town market and start bargaining.
The first time she went to the market was during Sowing of the Seeds, a festive celebration of all those who start the sowing to prepare for the next harvest. Her she was nothing short of a disaster. Her stall wasn't properly built, her prices were off, too low, and when she realised it she had risen them too high. Most of the time she didn't even pay attention to the products and two boxes of wood full of vegetables got stolen. She knew she has to get better, or she wouldn't be able to feed the house, or even keep it and pay tax to the lord.
