High Shore Monstrous Romance

The monsters are real and they've always been here.
I like the more 'hush hush' approach to monsters. They socialize in tiny groups and pockets, but there aren't monster cities. Pockets like High Shore exist but they're pretty hidden from one another.

The idea that there is a veil behind the modern, the normal, the every day where these things exist. On the fringes of human and social awareness, influencing the world in ways that people can only guess at, or craft mythos around.
High Shore was not all that sought after. The place was remote and cheap, difficult to get to during the stormy season, cold and dreary. It boasted a population of one hundred at the best of times, with a handful frequently taking time away from the island when it became too depressing for them to stay.

The Stories

Angels

Their actual names are Nathaniel and Rahatiel, though they're affectionately known as Angel to their respective monsters and the world at large. Their stories center around their function in the monster world and how they maintain a balance between the relative good and evil. It's a way to tell a story behind the veil entirely with a monster harem loosely functioning in the modern human world.

Warren Brothers

Focused around Jeremy Warren and Sebastian Warren at a small island town off the coast of Maine. It is here that they meet the monsters and humans who will soon become a part of their lives. It's a character driven story about the brothers specifically after Sebastian has moved in with Jeremy - a new comer to a small town that does not usually get new comers - shortly followed by the arrival of the Storm brothers: Alto Storm and Kaimbe Storm.

Dorian

This story is focused around an old vampire who wants a way out of his family's responsibilities and finds that there are monsters more monstrous than what he's been exposed to - and that might be what's been missing in his very long life. It is by pure chance that he runs into the Carnival creatures known as Admetos and Niarchos after playing at a night club, and for once he becomes pursued as prey.

"You should be more careful about where you go. The villagers are convinced you are some sort of walking spirit."

Nathaniel tried to talk, coughed, then tried again. "I promise you I'm not."

Sharp green eyes peered down at him. Unmoved by Nathaniel's current state but not detached. Curious, maybe. "I know. I'm just trying to figure out what you are."

The stories are personal and fringe, about the monsters and the people who happen upon them. Not expressly horror, though the monsters aren't meant to be friendly to everyone. Just their chosen. It's an exploration of various relationships and the drama that unfolds in a supernatural setting with a touch of darkness.
