Hell Raiders

The Hell Raiders are a now infamous mercenary company. They take any job, as long as they get paid the agreed upon price. Once put to the task they won’t stop until the job is done. Then, they expect to be paid. In full.

In the past they have been refused full payment only twice. The first was the Elven ruler of Aluxxé. Glistenal had hired the company to repel orc agression from the Northern tribes, led by the orc chieftain Argmeer.

The Hell Raiders were responsible for holding the walls of Aluxxé, which they did, brilliantly. Repelling wave after wave of orc, goblin, and other even less savory creatures from the wall. When it was all over, the orcs and their horde retreated. During the entire siege only 2 rogue spies had slipped through and into the city proper, but not a single wall was breached. Glistenal, being a petty elf, siezed on the fact that the spies had infiltrated the city, over the wall. He used this excuse to hold back some of the agreed payment.

When Glistenal met with Brath, the leader of the Hell Raiders, Brath simply stated, “Your breach of contract puts you in jeapordy. Is this truly the path you wish to take take?”. Glistenal, taken aback that there was no shouting, bartering or sputtering argument, simply nodded. Brath left, but not before winking at Glistenal and saying, “Be seeing you elf, real soon”.

Knowing the extent of the fortifications and in turn, the weaknesses of Aluxxé, Brath and the Hell Raiders offered their services to Argmeer. Although he had just been beaten by the Hell Raiders Company, he gleefully accepted their information and martial help. Armed with new knowledge and with the Hell Raiders in the vanguard, the city fell quickly. With the Hell Raiders on the walls, the city had held for three days, with them at the walls, it fell in three hours.

Argmeer was drunk on his victory, puffed up, and stupid. He too didn’t want to pay, regardless of the riches he now had at his command. Argmeer decided that the orcs had done most of the fighting, and that since the horde had been the ones to storm Glistenal’s castle, and root out the final sniveling elves, that the company deserved less. He opened his mouth and began to gloat,”We don’t have to pa...urk!...” Knowing what was going to happen before it happened, Brath flicked his rapier faster than the eye could follow and flish, slash, he cuts Argmeer into four equal chunks that gravity pulls apart and lets fall to the floor. At nearly the same time, Argmeer’s honor guard is eliminated by Brath’s men with barely a sound.

He and his men calmly take more than the riches they were to be paid and begin to melt away into the night. Before he leaves, Brath has a chance meeting with Glistenal, his head on a pike. “Told you I’d see you real soon. elf” He spits on theground before the staked heads, and is gone.

Hell Raiders In The Campaign

The Hell Raiders are a good organization for the player characters to encounter as possible friends or foes. The Hell Raiders are tough, unforgiving, competent, and cruel. They do have a sense of honor or at least a code that they follow. This makes them dependable as allies, as long as the coin is there. Crossing this group is highly dangerous and most likely ends up with the offending party dead and decaying in a ditch somewhere.
