Alistair Flask

Alistair Flask is a citizen of HEX .6I - The Village of Thorn Hollow. He is a figure of some import and reknown. An elderly seeming man with long white hair and beard. He is a mentor to many and foster father to Charles, a young yellow dragonborn apprentice wizard. Charles is singular among the citizens of Thorn Hollow. The only known Dragonborn in the land. With Charles, and most town citizens, he gives the air of a kindly grandfather. He runs the only large scale alchemical emporium in the area, Flask's Famous Philtres

Flask is a town elder which gives him some small say in the goings on and happenings in town. He has the ear of the town Mayor and town council. He is responsible for the yearly Harvest Festival and Market which draws people from other villages far and wide, along with the native population, to eat, play games, judge contests, purchase goods, and sell their wares

As a former adventurer himself, Alistair has an eye for who is well suited to the adventuring life and who should stay home. Flask has a special test he administers to those who believe they are made of the stuff of legend and glory.

The test is administered to the subject by a magical draught made especially for the test subject. The liquid in the dose roils and moves as if it's alive, always a different color matched to the aura of the person being tested. Once the draught is consumed, the testee begins to fade from this reality and soon finds themselves at the beginning of The Test.

They face a large cave entrance, all around them is a shimmering enegy filling the air, caging them in the small 30 yard diameter space, forcing them to enter the cave. There is no other choice. Those that pass the test are told not to divulge further secrets of the challenge.

Some time ago, Alistair sent a group out from Thorn Hollow at the request of a community he had not met before. A species, heretofore unknown, called the Kenku. They reached out through an emissary, Reaver. He traveled an unheard of distance through the caverns near Iron Delve. These caverns run for innumerable miles, faster than overland, but much more dangerous. The Kenku messenger, Reaver, who wore a magical pendant allowing him to speak as a human would. In a medlodious and resonant voice he told Alistair of his people and their troubles. How they suffered on the yoke of slavery for a heartless individual known to them as The Necromancer.

Nine individuals including Reaver left the safety of the village to investigate this threat and hopefully, somehow, save Reaver's people.They haven't been heard from since.

Alistair Flask in the Campaign

Alistair is an alchemist, former adventurer, patron and town elder. Now that his adventuring days are over, he sponsors others to bring him news.

The alchemist gathers information from all across the Known World to understand what is going on politically and economically. Alistair is more infomed than even those living in large cities like nearby Lasandorelle. As a result he usually knows about any trouble that may affect the village long before it reaches it. When Alistair speaks, people listen.
