Physical Description

Special abilities

Dan has flight and energy projection powers. He is capable of firing beams and bolts of power, and occasionally generating powerful waves. He has also used a very weak beam as a substitute flashlight. Dan’s beams are powerful, capable of incapacitating an opponent in two to three hits.
When Dan is in possession of the shield of compassion, he can generate force field bubbles to protect his teammates, heal injuries, and gain limited psychic powers.

Apparel & Accessories

Dan owns a flight jacket of unknown origin, which has his last name on it. However, one might be forgiven for thinking the jacket belongs to Teo, as he’s the one who now wears it the most often. Dan first leant Teo the jacket following the latters traumatic experiences inside the mirror. It became a tradition that whichever of them was in most need of emotional and/or physical comfort would end up with the jacket.

Personal history

Dan was born in 1996, and adopted by Markus ███████ a year later. Dan grew up in the child superhero industry. Under the name “Rayboy'' Dan fought criminals, made public appearances, and starred in ads and PSAs throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s. Eventually, the combination of this lifestyle and the abusive relationship between him and Markus had an extreme effect on Dan’s mental health. On his eighteenth birthday, Dan left Markus and the hero business.
He was fortunate enough to get in contact with a group of former child heroes working for justice, accountability and healing. Two years later Dan joined the ORG  and started working with Roland Lloyd on team dauntless. Tensions were always high, but they started to mellow out over the years. Then Teo joined the ORG in 2019.
Dan took Teo under his wing due to their similar powers and a fear that Teo could end up in the same predatory system Dan was trapped in as a teenager. The two bonded quickly. Dan found himself stepping up as a mentor and parent figure to the teen, and they’ve been close since.
When Teo officially joined Team Dauntless in 2020, Dan and Roland’s personal issues came to a head. Since then, they have been working to reach a better understanding, and have become close.
During the first artifact crisis, Dan wielded the shield of compassion. He briefly regained the shield during the second artifact crisis.
After the first artifact crisis, Dan went into reserve and started working more intensively as an advocate against the child superhero industry. He also wrote a book, which he was trying to get published at the onset of the second artifact crisis.

Education

Dan has a high school equivalent education, but it was very rushed due to his duties as Rayboy. He has received additional training through the ORG.

Employment

Dan has worked at the ORG since 2016. He went into reserve in 2022, and began working on his first book. He is optimistic that he will eventually publish a trilogy.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Dan is very close with his teammates and a few of his fellow child heroes, who he considers to be his family. He also works with a variety of organizations trying to bring an end to child heroes. Through these organizations he knows many former child heroes, as well as several other people.

Family Ties

Dan has made no attempt to contact Markus since his eighteenth birthday. While he has considered looking for his birth parents, he has not gone through with it. His justification is even if they are alive and would want to meet him, he doesn’t want anyone living with the knowledge they gave up their own child to that kind of exploitation.
