The Great Flying Goob
General Summary
Our session begins...
Having found the plant symbionts we divide them among the party and begin our trek back northward. I navigate the shit out of our journey and even though it rained I'm able to retrace our bath and also cut some time off the journey by avoiding some sketchy terrain. One day we're cutting across a path and see a dead elk in our way.
As we get closer the insides of the corpse seems to be moving and eventually it explodes in a shower of goop and slimy bits that begin to congeal and swarm at us. Samguise thinks it's some kind of OOZE that he doesn't know about but makes it very clear they're gross.
Pulling the cart, I couldn't really see what was going on but I began to hear fancy music from the sky that indicates Samguise has encountered a threat! It turns out that there are some really gross bloody boils that decided to be mobile and attack! Woofie snarls and bites the boil and it really doesn't look like eating these things is a very good idea.
Flower mimics an abilty we've seen Rissa use and a wave of confidence surrounds everybody nearby. With this new confidence Tilly launches her incredible magic missiles and at one of the boils surrounding Bork Borque. Freyja slices one with her axe and it explodes in a splatter around it burning everyone with acid! *so gross*
Flower channels the sunlight and emanates a healing glow while Tilly launches more magic missiles and chitters.
The boil slams itself into Bork and exposes him to the same disease as Woofie. In fact, I think most of us were exposed to it. It wasn't insanely tough but we're a little worried about having caught leprosy. Three more days pulling the cart and nobody seems to develop any boils (most of us do have leprosy and just gotten symptoms yet).
Back in Hero City...
We plan on heading out the next day after the yellow color from space. The two yellow pieces that broke off are three days north of Hero City and another far East, likely a month or more to reach where it probably landed. I buy a bunch of trail rations from Sapphire, rope, and a bedroll so I don't have to sleep in the tent any more.Leaving he city, we see a large pastel blue chariot-like creature soaring towards us. It has wings instead of wheel and seems to be headed right for us. Nobody seems to know what it is, but the basic coloration is similar to that of a skreet. It swoops down and smoothly and suddenly morphs into a skreet! Immediately Flower approaches.
"Goob, help you Phoevus."
In broken Common he stammers and Flower exchanges head-butts with him at my direction. We discern that Phoevus might need help and if she's asking for assistance, it must be very important. He shifts back into the flying chariot form and we all load into him. What a strange thing to write. The next three days we fly during sunlight and rest overnight.
I spend most of the time watching the landscape around us as we travel to keep my bearings. I'm pretty good at tracking and surviving in the wild but this was a great time to get a skybound view and learn about the terrain. Far ahead of us, Samguise notices as we soar above a valley that there are several very large birds circling the area. There are some smaller brown birds that are roughly the size of Samguise and Bork & I identify them as vultures and the larger (size category LARGE) are Giant Vultures.
The biggest vulture squawks at Samguise and charges at Goob since he's the biggest potential threat. I reach out the opening beside me and swing out towards the nearest vulture. I stub my foot against the half-wall and nearly trip over Tilly, winding myself and making me feel tired and foolish. Showing me up, Tilly, Freyja, and Flower all strike out with magic missiles, whips, and slings to down more vultures.
Bork is throwing fire at the birds, Samguise is livid that they won't talk with him, I'm winded and tired of this, Tilly keeps tossing magic missiles like they're candy at a parade, and Flower is a *shining example* that is glowing like a beacon of hope. Even Samguise kills one of the vultures by forcefully feeding it an arrow.
Eventually we killed the damn birds and made our way to the skreet village.Rewards Granted
