The Black Tower Golems
General Summary
Before us is a massive tower, 80ft. high and connects to another smaller tower via a second or third level bridge. Out front are two Ice Golems, near two braziers that emit dense fog that fills the immediate area. As we approach the two golems hold out their arms and command; "Halt. You are approaching the land of ... leave of beware the concequences."
Rizza asks them what the 'concequences' would be but they only repeat themselves then begin a countdown...
Ice golems are immune to Cold, vulnerable to Fire, DR/adamantine, immune to magic that is subject to SR, Cold Breath Weapon, and EXPLODE when they hit 0 Hit Points.
We immediately start blasting them and both Tilly & I hit one solidly with a flurry of rays of fire and acidic arrows! Then we realize our mistake as they both unleash their powerful breath weapons against our group. Our ride, Goob, panics and begins flying away from the golems with Tilly & I still aboard, so before we're too far I conjure a Spiked Pit to get the golems moving or pinned down. One falls and Bork takes out the most damaged one with a blast cold!
In the most brutal fashion - Tilly rolls a massive Flaming Sphere right on top of the Ice Golem.
We circle around the tower to the entrance and I discover a lever hidden among some pebbles. Looking back I think it would've disarmed the trapped door but Agol stepped up and unlocked the door when my technical skills weren't enough to handle it. Immediately inside we spot several animated and armed skeletons! Undead! Oh no!
The big one with an Earthbreaker Hammer hits Bork Borque pretty hard and the archers pepper me with arrows. It takes a bit but eventually we take down the minions in the entrance and regroup.
Agol recognizes the emblem on the armor that the skeletons are wearing as the same noble house as the woman we're attempting to rescue! It's a great sign we're on the correct path and I pile their armor near the entrance to collect on our way out - we might receive a reward for returning it or at least provide closure to those who cared for them.
