Gotumir Bash
Gotumir Harvest (a.k.a. Bash)
Gotumir, a twenty-four-year-old half-orc, stands apart in The bowls—that densely packed outer ring district where laborers crowd into crumbling slumbuildings that rise like broken teeth from reclaimed patches of earth. Here, where the Closed Gates Period hit hardest, he grew up watching his Human mother Marga harvest till one of those precious soil plots wedged between tenements, her calloused hands coaxing meager crops from ground others had abandoned.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
As a boy, he idolized the Bowlscrapers, that influential grassroots movement whose members gathered nightly at the Olledrob Tavern-brothel. He and Timothy bluebelly ran the narrow alleyways together, until Timothy leveraged the district's deep-seated prejudices to drive Gotumir from the organization's ranks. Now he serves Vorgath steelskin, a prominent Bowlscraper slaughterhouse owner, but remains outside their inner circle. In his solitary trade as butcher, Gotumir processes the district's precious livestock with unexpected gentleness, earning quiet respect from those who bring him their rare cattle, though they never quite welcome him as their own.
God
How is religion practiced by the common folk
Religion is a big part of daily life for the common folk, in troubled times it provides a great feeling of hope. And in times of virtue it provides a great feeling of joy.
Even though the common folk are incredibly devoted to their gods, due to their standing in the order of the world, most of their religious practices are focussed on local customs and seasonal celebrations. Whereas the inner city, where the people stand higher in the order, the focus lies more on the theology and the study of their gods.
These differences can create an imbalance in how the respected gods are perceived. For the common folk the more scholar approach of the inner city can feel quite alienated. Due to their local customs the theology can seem off and falls outside of their known bubble, this can create some friction between the same followers of said religion.
Because of this the common folk can be viewed as uneducated, because the differences between the theology and local customs can be seen as the wrong path of their religion.
For now we will dive deeper as to how the orcs practice their religion.
For the orcish race the god Druumsch.
Some of the more important daily practices of the followers of Druumsch are as followed:
Morning oath:
For their morning prayer the orcs touch one of their scars and recite the following vow: ‘This mark is my past; this day is my promise. Flesh may break, but the clan stands whole. I will hold the line’.
This vow is a promise to their god to protect their tribe.
The sharing of meals:
No member of the tribe should eat alone, while the others go hungry. Feeding the clan is an act of worship, because survival is sacred.
Honoring of their fallen:
At every feast one chair is left empty at the table, the chair is decorated and a meal is placed in front of it. This is a way to honor those warriors who have fallen to protect their clan.
Some of the more common ways to worship their god are:
Shrines of Stone and Iron:
Instead of lavish temples, Gruumsh is honored with rough-hewn stone circles, war banners, and weapons too old to wield but too sacred to discard.
Offerings:
The most common and accepted offerings of Gruumsh are the weapons taken from worthy enemies, the broken chains of freed tribesmen and blood freely given from your own hand.
Weapons taken from worthy enemies, broken chains, and blood freely given from one's own hand are favored offerings. Blood symbolizes commitment, not simply violence.
Storm Prayers:
During thunderstorms, the tribe gathers in silence, believing Gruumsh's voice speaks in the thunder.
The priests of Gruumsch.
The priesthood of Gruumsch is obtained through only two ways. Veterans of the tribe who have survived impossible odds or the keepers of clan history, those who make sure no member is forgotten.
A common practice of the priests is deliberately blinding one eye, as to honor the sacrifice of Gruumsh. The priests take on this burden, not because blindness grants them the power of Gruumsh, but because willingly accepting a permanent burden demonstrates their endless devotion.
Within in the religion there are a few unforgivable sins:
Abandoning the tribe
Hoarding food or wealth while the tribe suffers
Seeking glory for oneself instead of the tribe.

Mercury wrote a document, who protects 'the volunteers' set free bij Juniper (she convinced the guards the can be used as free labor). However there is one flaw in the document, the volunteers are tied the whomever controls the cranes. For now this is neither bad or good, whenever the owner of the cranes changes this can change.
For today we propose to go to the homestead the help the people and gain volunteers the help with the cranes.
On the way to the homestead we encounter a group of people whom look like the lowest class of the bowls, the poorest of the poor. We encounter in small groups along the pad, we try to ignore most of them, we remain weary of their true intentions.
Junniper decides to the write some pamflets that inform the people of the bowls about the opportunities at the cranes, where the can make money and what to do. To keep most of them out of criminal path.
Mercury sees some people in the field dressed in robes and are bent over, what the are doing isn't entirely clear, the do however give of a monkish vibe.
Ruhu! speaks to one of the priest, he slowly gets op his back cracking under the constant bending over. When he gets up, Ruha notices the monks necklace and connects it to the god Tier (god of war and justice). She is a sister name ataraksis vos.
The sister notices the defaced idol in Ruha bags and here entire demeanor changes and she starts to feel sick. Ruha tell here she want to restore the idol. the sister seems relived and once more tells Ruha that the god tier is strong in her.
Torgot still want to visit the home of Serrat Wildclean to investigate the kittennapping of Shafran Wildclean. In the homestead Mercury finds a small amount of magic of a sleep spell. After this we help with loading the carts and get ready the move to the camp.
Just about as we start the roll out, suddenly a needle spawn appears and attacks one of the carts, one of the ivory order is hit by an scout.

Talk to priest (will find out information about the idol)
Chores in the camp
Help people in the camp
Spread rumors about Tharian
Some notes:
At the moment we have zero volunteers
Ruha and Junniper spend the entire day at the tavern. Making buds, performing poetry and spreading rumors.
Junniper spread the rumor about Tharian his believe system. Ruha helped out with serving, and spreading the good name of our party.
We enter the tavern and introduce Ruha and junniper to Mercury. Turn out the gold administration and the court of gems can't stand each other. Apparently Junniper has met the father of Mercury.
Mercury with the skill eye of detail puts the following together, during the trail where the gold admin. asked for fruit from the court of gems, magic returned. Here it became clear that elven women are incredibly powerful. That's why the gold administration is kidnapping elven women. On the other side, Balear is kidnapping babies to look fot an other power source. Because he does not want, the power to be of the elven women.
Mercury tells us about the arcane ledger and how it has turned magic in an currency. And how the magic capability ads to your bloodline worth, which explain how some ancient families hold that much wealth. Ruha on a simply whim decides to write her name in the ledger and decides to look up Tharian in the ledger.
After that she looks up Bramturin, from the iron eater line. He has à lot of investment in the cranes and in the harbor. Furthermore he has an incredible list of magical items.
I decide to intune myself with the gauntlets of ogre power. I put the gauntlets on and meditate, when i close my eyes i focus. I can hear the rats on the rafters, I leap from my chair and catch the rat. I sqeeze the rat and let is blood flow into the gauntlets, i can feel the strength surge thru my body.
Thorgott tries to repair the cranes, but he doensn't gain much progress.
junniper convinces the gaurds to let the prisoner out the cages and let them volunteer to help repair the cranes, we gain 5 volunteers.
help pull one of the carts on the rail, first i fail. After some bardic insparation (from junniper) i manage to pull it on.
Sessie 12
Thorgoth and I decide to head down to the tavern. The barman hand us some ale (not recommended), he points us to a new face in this tavern / camp. Thorgoth and I decide to head over and introduce ourselves. This new person is called 'Mercury', someone from the gold administration, apparently she is here to research the cranes.
Thorgot and I talk about our background story, we talk about his mission and how to world is so different for us. Especially our experiences with the Ivory Order and their tyranny in the Bowls.
Thorgott and I are unsure about how much we can tell Mercury, so we discuss what we can tell. Well turns out Mercury can lipread, so trying to be secret didn't turn out well. So we decide to tell everything (no point to be so secretive anymore), we still needed to report to Tharian about our findings. Thorgott and I decided it would be best to write a report, because our more charismatic party members were vast asleep upstairs. Mercury kindly helped us write the report, neither Thorgot or I could have done any better.
As the night progress we discuss what we need to do to repair the cranes. The cranes need 30 engineers and 10 priest to function on full capacity, in the camp we can no round up about 10 volunteer. To train the priest we will need a cleric, where can find one? Furthermore we need to repair about 3 carts.
During our talks we also agree we need to help shape the social balance. We can help the homsteaders with farming, this can free up volunteers (whom we can train as engineers or priests0. We also discuss the possibility of the druids helping us train priest, there seems to be some possibility there.
Once we have some priests, we can also restore the idol to its original shape, this is something we think will make Ruha very happy.
We take our actions on what to do, I finally finish my strong spider silk rope. Mercury decides to sneak into Tharians tent and steal some documents. She succeeds and we find out some interesting things:
Tharian want to overthrow the inner city guards and destroy the cranes.
Tharian didn't kill the leader of the druids, when he found her she was already dying (from some serious slash marks.
Thorgott decides to train the first batch of volunteers, it takes some time but he manages to train al 10 of them.
Furthermore Mercury tries to make a schedule for the cranes, but this will need some more work before it can be used efficiently. I help some of the people with salvage and looking around for usefull materials (+2 on the next repair roll).
We we are all done I ask Mercury for a favor, I ask to apraise my family heirloom (gauntlets of ogre power). Mercury unleashes a ritual spell and explains the power of the gauntlets. They can give me amazing strength, but I will need to get intune with them. I'm gratefull for the help, I think Mercury can make a great adition to our group.
Sessie 11
We have decided to setup camp in the homestead. During our rest we al focus on some individual task;
I decide clean and sharpen my axe, after this I attempt to craft some strong rope from the spider silk. Unfortunately I can only manage to half ass craft this rope.
Ruha and Juniper huddle up and read the book of materials, they are trying to found out about the ongoing magic and other information.
Thorgot starts to talk to his hammer. He says he is talking to his ancestors, all I can see is him mumbling to his hammer. Bu who am I to judge.
We all go to sleep after our task, we wake up in a thunderstorm. Juniper (the princess) refuses to go outside in this rain, Thorgott tries to find a big leaf to use as a umbrella, but to no avail. So there is no choice but to wait out this storm, after some time the storm finally settles down in the middle of the night. We decide to head for the cranes immediately.
On our way to the cranes Thorgott stumbles upon a the body of a dead elf. It looks like a fancy elf of the court of gems dressed in the clothe of a priest, but according to Juniper he is not so fancy at all. Regardless she decides to loot the body, covered in his cloak she finds a baby Satir (a girl). Juniper hand the bay to Ruha who tries to calm it down, Thorgott brings up the idea to bring the baby to the Satir heard. For a moment this sounds like an okay idea, until Ruha reminds us that we need too return to the cranes within three days.
Us bringing this baby to the cranes is a risky plan, I bring up the idea to leave the baby by the elf and return to the cranes. This idea is met with a deadly look of Ruha and Juniper, best to avoid their gaze. Ruha decides to name the baby Satir 'Deniya', my idea of calling her 'Döner' is once again met with a deadly gaze.
During our walk we find a small clearing in the woods, despite this magical darkness somehow the sun can find it's way through, it feels less present in this part. It gives of a serene feeling of peace, I can hear the giggles of Deniya and the song of many birds. Apparently this place inspire Ruha to an oath reading and she starts dancing, Juniper fills this part of the forest with the sound of her harp. Ruha invites Thorgott and I to join the dancing, we join sort off, if you can call that dancing.
After a while we decide to continue our way to the cranes. At the gate of the camp we ask the guards if we first can visit the inn to rest, the guards let us thru but we have to report to Derek Copperskin by the evening. When we enter the inn we search for a Tabaxi lady named 'Zerat', the rest of the group already spoke with her before. What I can observe is that she is really closed off, the group (mostly Ruha and Juniper) manage to persuade her to finally open up to us. During this I learn that her kitten was kidnapped during her sleep, absolutely heartbreaking to hear. Her crying gets louder, Ruha and Juniper try to calm her down. They show her Deniya and ask her to watch her during our mission. The baby seems to really calm her down, and she slowly tops crying (finally).
We continue further and talk to the inn keeper (who seems really drunk) and ask about an injured soldier, whom has gotten the nickname 'preacher boy'. The story goes that he was saved by a godess, who could this person be?
The inn keeper asks us if we have talked to the elven man upstairs, who is apparently searching for his sister (Nympheria?). This mightier than thou magot initially refuses to talk to us. It takes some persuading but after some conversing he decides to talk to us, turns out he is from the Laucasion family, never hurt from them but Juniper knows who they are. His name is Nyhm, he and his sister are part of an very powerful family, but both of them stand a the bottom of this family. Because of this the get used for a lot of the dirty work. His sister is still missing, the group draws an conclusion. There might be a high chance that she is kidnapped by the gold administration.
During our conversation one thing stand out, Nyhm knows the dead elf in the forrest is a priest, but we never told him that he was a priest. This revaltion stirs up a lot of dust and we find out that brother and sister are responsible for the kidnapping of the babies, and they stole the kitten of Zerdat!
After this we decide to leave him be, even tho he has a very slap able face, but we must control ourselves. But before we leave the inn we give on final warning to Zerdat, stay away from HIM!

Sessie 9
Kaelor and I (Gotumir) arrive at the cranes as newcomers, we walked a pad overgrown and by the look of it not wel kept. During our walk we encounterd a few bodies, with, so far we could identify claw marks al over them.
We enter the cranes and for the first time we can fully take in the these marvels of engineering, in our life we could only ever see the top and the rest was up to our imagination. Here we encounter some Ivory Order soldiers, but the differ from the ones we are used to in the Bowls. On our way we did however encounter a few cages, when observed we could see locked up Beastfolk and Druids. At this moment in the journal remains unclear.
We enter a tavern and upon arrival we are greeted (not negative, nor positive). When seated we get served something that can't really be classified as liquid, but the taste however so strong. After we get settled a rather loud and by the look of it disorganized party enters the tavern. We overhear a few things from their adventures the previous day. From their stories I can make up a few points:
They visited the alter of the god Gond, whom created the pulley system of the cranes. Apparently because of the size of the cranes, his powers are needed to operate the cranes.
We also hear something about a commander of the Ivory Order, named Tharian(?). From the stories I can make up that he is quite an authoritarian figure, whom is responsible for the incarcerated Beastfolk and Druids. Furthermore he wants to demolish the cranes to produce weapons, instead of repairing them.
Then I hear something about an interesting dwarf named Bramthrum, from the stories I can make up that he has a part of the god Gond living inside him. How does that work and how can he survive the powers of a god?
Turns out that they know about a beast with huge claws and feathers(?). Their description would explain the bodies we found during our travel. Some people believe that the druids are responsible for this beast, but we hear that the are the ones who try to contain this beast. But why are the locked up, if the want to help?
Kaelor and I decide to introduce ourselves to the party. During our introduction these are a few of the things we notice:
Juniper: a elf who comes out quite mean and a bit condescending. By the look of her clothes she is used to a good life;
Ruha: a half orc who is pretty pressing and gullible. Do not call her manly, my ears cant's survive another scream;
Thorgoth: a dwarf we didn't really notice Thorgoth at first glance. First impression is that he doesn't speak much, not weird considering his party members. I get the idea he knows his way around the cranes.
After we have introduced ourselves, we suddenly hear a scream outside. It's calling for Juniper, apparently his name is Piet, of all the names in Zyrokhill this must be one of the weirdest names I heard. Kaelor and I join the party outside, they get an assignment to discover the forrest beyond the footpath, we decide to join them. When we reach the end of the path we have to make a decision do we continue through the night or do we make camp. After some debating we decide to setup a camp to get some rest, Kaelor and I do not have a lot of trust in this parties survive ability during the night.
During camp we talk with the party and learn some more about their quest:
The Forges want to repair their infrastructure, with the biggest struggle being the cranes themselves. The goal is to once again deliver the products to the Goddess administration(?) and the Coin Square(?). The Coin Square was overrun by plant zombies, how does this work? We learn that this monster still lingers in the sewers somewhere, do we have an idea where?
Thorgoth his quest is repairing the cranes and return them to their former glory. Long ago his family was involved with this infrastructure and invested magical credits (still unclear how the work?), when invested the create a magical bond with that piece.
Sounds like even here the Ivory Order are divided, there are settlers who (unlike Tharian) want to repair the cranes for prosperity. The found the old magical control unit, but from what I understand, are absolutely clueless how these controls work.
The party also found an 300 year old dwarf, named Bramturium. He still holds knowledge how the cranes work, the cranes are infused with a part of the power of the god Gond. How is that even possible?
From their stories I can summerise the parties goals:
Don't let Tharian hinder the settlers in their quest to repair the cranes;
Interview Bramthurium for more information. This is apparently easier said then done;
Repair the cranes, so they can be used once again.
During our night we decide that three party members will keep watch, Juniper, Ruha and Kaelor.
The first watch is quite uneventful. During the second watch however, Ruha falls asleep.... Suddenly a giant spider appears, the creature attacks Ruha the first misses, but the second.. During this time we are all trapped in a spider web, everybody seems tho get loose. I however am wrapped it what seems like the strongest web known to man, and even with my massive reborn strength I was not able tho get loose.
In the end Ruha and the others manage to kill the giant spider, and of all the irony I'm completely smothered in spider goop...
Background session
Our story starts with Kaelor, a goliath turned to the faith of Lantander. During the say you can see a faint purple glow in the sky, it has always been there, but today it is more then normal.
Kaelor heads to an tavern like building in the bowls. He has a meeting with Anna Harves (Harvest a common surname for bastards), she appears to be pregnant and accompanied by her son 'Davy Harvest'. Here he learns more about somebody named 'Isaac Scraper', somebody with a higher status within the Bowls. Isaac is somebody who collects and negotiates for the Bowlscrapers. He has a small gang, but Isaac cannot be described as a bruiser. Just somebody with a smooth tongue who is known for making deals, even negotiations with the Ivory Order.
The Ivory Order is a militia like army, who within in the Bowls has some serious thined out morals. They are dragonborns, who raid the Bowls for resources without warning and show no mercy to achieve their goals.
After that we turn our attention to Gotumir, a Half-Orc bastard from the Bowls. He is the son a human mother Marga Harvest, a strong woman with an even stronger temperament. She is a more hefty, but hardworking woman.
Gotumir works as an assistent to a butcher, Vorgath Steelskin a dragon born. Vorgath owns a butchery known as one of the better shops spread around the Bowls. It is a clean butchery situated on the higher levels of building, preventing flood damage and ensures a high quality. During a normal work day a thunderers rumble spreads around the Bowls, the sky still a faint glow of purple, but no thunder. This can only mean one thing, the Ivory Order has started one of their raids again, the marching of the soldiers shakes through the Bowls.
During all of this Marga burst inside the butchery and confronts Vorgoth, she arguments with him about the inbound raid. She argues with Vorgoth about Isaac, and wants him to get involved the make a deal, so bloodshed can be prevented. Vorgoth doesn't want to get involed, his argument remaisn to lay low and don't get in their way. Marga yells, her roaring voice fills the courtyard, she demands action. The sounds of marching soldiers gets louder and louder, it sounds like they are getting closer.
