Prince Species in Hellverse | World Anvil

Prince

A Prince or Princess is typically used to mean the offspring of Lucifer, but the term more generally describes any offspring of an angel and demon, referring to their physiological uniqueness. Prince, therefore, can be used to refer to both the title of a child of Lucifer or the name of the half-breed species resulting from a union between angel and demon.

Basic Information

Biological Cycle

Over time, all Princes lose the ability to feel. This is similar to the effect of drug use, where in a drug user can get high off a small dose, originally, before needed more and more to achieve the same high. Emotions work similarly for Princes as they have a harder time feeling individual emotions over time as they experience more extreme highs and lows. Some Prinecs will even expose themselves to as much pain and love as possible early on to rid them of emotions that may distract them from their work.

Additional Information

Social Structure

In Hell, Princes (and previously Princesses) are considered second only to Lucifer, even in spite of the vast legal restrictions they suffer.

Facial characteristics

Princes and Princesses are often compared to their angel parent as beautiful but scientifically they don't favor the angelic parent's genetics more than the demon parent's in that way.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

In the case of Lucifer's children, their other parent almost always names them, with only a few exceptions being made throughout history.

Common Taboos

Princes in Hell who are not Imperial Hounds are bound to never tell a lie. If they do, it is punishable by death. Since even apologizing can be seen as going back on their word, they have adopted a convoluted and careful manner of speech to avoid being caught in a lie.

Common Myths and Legends

It is said that Princes are driven by the deep desire to one day kill their father, but no evidence has been made that there is an actual genetic factor in this drive.
