Melita is the Captain of the Hoplites in Pavlopetri. She is a close confidant and friend of Kyros, the Harmost.
She is courageous and a fierce warrior with spear and sword, and she is known to be shrewd in her judgment of people, and an expert military commander and tactician.
Melita fears for the Military Governor (Harmost) of Pavlopetri, Kyros, who has recently been having troubled nightmares. He has not slept soundly for a month and has begun making questionable dictates. He is being driven insane by his lack of sleep and she is worried about assassins trying to remove him from power to prevent anymore erratic orders from him. She also fears he may take his own life to stop the pain.
She knows he is visited by an apparition who speaks to him, who claims he is the victor of Palamon and begs for his torment to end, and that he finally be allowed to enter the Elysian Fields.
Melita and her staff want Kyros's visions to end to stop the madness engulfing him.
Melita has been ordered to recruit a band of heroes, offering a reward to anyone who will willingly enter the Tomb and who successfully stops Kyros's nightmares. Melita will lend the key that opens the tomb doors to anyone who accepts this task. She will of course expect the return of the key when the heroes have completed their adventure.
Melita fears the tomb as she believes it holds a powerful curse to anyone born in Pavlopetri. To further this belief, previous heroes who have attempted to solve this mystery have never returned, and an inscription on the Tomb's doors proclaims a dire warning. Consequently, she is looking for freemen and women who are not native to Pavlopetri to undertake this adventure.
