Numod's Tower
Numod’s Tower, an enigmatic relic from the 14th century, looms silently over the rocky shoreline of southern Mar Miskun, casting its shadow over the barren landscape of the Arrimor Peninsula. The tower, a slender and weathered structure of pale grey stone, was once the domain of the reclusive weaver Numod Zarine, a powerful practitioner of Weaving.
In its prime, Numod’s Tower was a place of wonder and mystery. It stood as a beacon of illusory enchantments and otherworldly lights, a testament to the weaver’s mastery of his craft. Numod’s illusions could twist reality itself, bending light and sound to his will, conjuring mirages of vibrant gardens, impossible creatures, and magnificent banquets that could deceive even the most astute observer. Though his creations were often harmless and whimsical, local legends speak of darker deceptions - visions that misled travellers into treacherous terrain or ghostly figures that lured ships onto the rocks.
Numod disappeared in the early 15th century under mysterious circumstances. His tower, once a place of vibrancy and life, fell silent. It is said that the last sighting of the weaver was of him wandering the shore alone, muttering incantations that filled the sky with shimmering colours.
The tower is now in a state of deep disrepair, its upper levels partially collapsed and its lower chambers filled with the detritus of time. The murals that once adorned its walls, depicting scenes of great feasts, verdant glades, and other fantastical places, are now faded and cracked, though in the right light, their vibrant colours seem almost to pulse and move. A narrow spiral staircase winds up through the central spire, leading to a viewing platform at the top, now exposed to the elements.
