Amphibians in the Helerin Archipelago are as varied and diverse as the landscapes they inhabit, playing vital roles in both the ecosystems they call home and the cultures of the people who share these lands. From the colorful, toxic frogs of the Festermere to the massive and territorial Noddumm, amphibians thrive in the wetlands, rivers, forests, and even some of the drier environments across Helerin.
Many amphibians are key in controlling insect populations and serve as prey for larger creatures, while others are fearsome predators in their own right. Whether blending into their environments with muted browns and greens or standing out with vibrant, warning colors, the amphibians of Helerin are an essential part of the natural order, shaping the balance of life in the archipelago's waterways and forests.

Frog

Frogs are small, agile amphibians found in wetlands and forests across Helerin. Known for their vibrant colors, especially the toxic varieties in the Festermere Swamps, they play a crucial role in controlling insect populations. Frogs are also common in the river valleys of Remon and Forbin.

Irrilan

The Irrilan is a large, carnivorous amphibian found in the wetter regions of Helerin, particularly the Festermere Swamps and northern Remon. Known for its sharp teeth and aggressive hunting tactics, the Irrilan preys on smaller creatures and occasionally poses a threat to people venturing too close to its territory.

Noddumm

Noddumms are giant toads that dominate the swamps and wetlands of Helerin. Towering at 8 feet tall, these territorial amphibians are known for their ambush hunting style and their ability to capture large prey. They are most commonly found in the Festermere Swamps of Teros Major and along the rivers of northern Remon.

Salamander

Salamanders are sleek and agile amphibians that thrive in the damp forests and wetlands of Helerin. Commonly found in Remon, Forbin, and Teros Major, they play a key role in maintaining insect populations. Though elusive, they are considered a sign of a healthy ecosystem and are often regarded as good omens by local villagers.

Sea Troll

Sea Trolls are massive, amphibious predators that lurk along the coasts and in the underwater caves of Helerin. Standing over 15 feet tall, these fearsome creatures are highly territorial and are known for ambushing boats and coastal settlements. Found primarily in the waters around Mar Mabon and Mar Miskun, Sea Trolls are both feared and respected by coastal communities.

Toad

Toads are robust, warty amphibians found in the drier environments of Helerin, such as the arid plains and hills of Remon and Teros. Larger and more resilient than frogs, they play a crucial role in controlling insect populations in regions where water is less abundant. Toads are often viewed as symbols of endurance and adaptability.
