To the outside perspective, the people of Barázar are one people who sail the same winds. It has however come to the attention of certain groups in Wythe, that perception to have it's misgivings. First noticed by the Aparnavosi after the construction of their
Niloofar dalghenna, they identified 5 distinct groups within Barázar, the Kóhrág (Imperial Wythian:
Mountain People), Jalagrág (Imperial Wythian:
Lowlanders), Daryarág (Imperial Wythian:
River Folk), Daryárág (Imperial Wythian:
Sea Men), and finally the Rágzerwán (Imperial Wythian:
People of the City). Together the leaders of these respective peoples make up the Bátenigal (Imperial Wythian: Inner Tribe) who make decisions in
Barazár with the Bádshah.
The Kóhrág
The mountain people intentially isolate themselves from much of the worlds events. They settled near the foot of the mountains long ago and spend their lives hearding cattle, goats, and
Dardwártell. They also produce most of Barazár's gems, minerals, and stones from the mines they create, which they use to barter and sell for goods at some of the more populated cities. The mountain people who inhabit the far East and North of Barazár are also known to be the most superstitious, fearing the deep mountains for the creatures that dwell around and within.
The Jalagrág
The Lowlanders are the farmers of Barazár, and keep the fledgling nation from falling into starvation. Much of their knowledge was lost during their imperial era when they heavily relied on over sea colonies to grow the majority of their food. After the Wythian
Lagonan War, there was a period of mass famine that swept Barazár, and would not end until foreign aid in the for of Lagona helped to reteach the Azárians how to farm again. Today they are well respected in Barazár, and a reminder of what their people can never forget again. They mainly bring their crops to the many river vilages where they are sold and shipped down to one of the larger cities.
The Daryarág
The River Folk inhabit the many riverways that lead to the sea, and are famed for their fishing, trapping, and navegational skills. It is these people who use their smaller vessels and canoes to travers the riverways and bring the Lowlanders crops to Niloofar's markets. Less solitary then the Mountain People, the River Folk no less keep to themselves for the most part and live simple lives. They are taught to respect nature and to cultivate it against the ever growing stone cities.
The Daryárág
The Sea men are said to be thrown into the sea at a young age, and whether they float or sink will determine their worth. The Sea Men have always kept towards the ocean, building vessels of war, trade, and exploration so they may make names for themselves. By far the most violent of the peoples of Barazár, they have always been looked upon to join the nations naval forces. The Sea Men value freedom and self sacrifice, always putting the needs of the many over their own. Their diets consist of sea life and sea plants which they roast and dry for long jouneys.
The Rágzerwán
The People of the City mainly refers to those who dwell in Niloofar, but the term has extended to refer to people living in any major city. The People of the City are generally looked down upon by the other groups in Barazár, due to their adaptation of foriegn ways by traders and merchents. The People of the City enjoy some of the finer things that the world has to offer, and even the poorest person living in Niloofar is generally better off than the wealthiest Kóhrág.
