Dardwártell

The Dardwártell (Imperial Wythian: Useful Mule) is a camel like mammel who unlike their desert cousins, live near the base of mountains where they graze on what grass and foliage they can find. They grow long fur to keep warm during the cold season and when they travel through mountain passes. Like their desert cousins, the Dardwártell can go long distances without nurishment.

Use

For as long as Azárian history goes back, there have been mentions of the Dardwártell. Used primarily as beasts of burdon, the creature has been worked by farmers and merchents to plow and carry wagons. Their ability to retain water and energy for long periods of time make them ideal for long trade missions across the Lagonan Empire.
Being a primerily seafaring nation, Barazár has never invested much time in a cavalry force. However there are a few mentions throught the histories of Dardwártell being trained for Combat, and fitted with minimal armor. The last mention of these beasts being used for Combat purposes, was at the Sack of Aureppel where a force of 200 Dardwártell were present and fought in the battle.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

The Dardwártell are used to life around the moutains, so working in fields are across long stretches of land require certain maitenence. Their hooves must be cleaned and trimmed monthy so they do not grow to an unstuable legnth, a problem that does not appear when they are constantly walking on rocks or hard soil. When the warm summer scortches Barazár, the long fur of Dardwártell are sheered so as to keep them cool from the intense heat, or long jounreys.
