essa Robicheaux is the office manager for the Special Projects team. She reports to Dontae Shukara.
She works hard and is extremely efficient. She sees her role as office manager to be all-encompassing, to the point where she will proactively do others' work for them - even when they are unaware, or undesiring, of her assistance. Although she has no direct reports, she absolutely views her role as "management" and will assert herself as such when the opportunity presents itself.

utside the team, she serves an invaluable role as a "corporate bargainer". She can manage to requisition all manner of goods from other departments - even when such requests, made by other coworkers, have been flatly shot down at the whim of corporate big-wigs, or as a matter of corporate policy. Such requests are not limited to "standard" corporate items. Within
Special Projects she's legendary for having acquired, at different times: tires for several different makes of car, Uncle Tojo's Secret Taijin Sauce (which has been banned in the U.S. since 2039), box seats to the Jacksonville Champions' third Super Bowl appearance, an autonomous robotic ferret named "Ricky", a contraband ream of paper infused with itching powder, and the password to all of the executive washrooms in Hegemony's Miami offices. Given the degree to which she done her "wheeling and dealing" within the company, it's generally acknowledged that damn near everyone outside the team of even nominal authority ultimately owes her... something.

essa is a "no-nonsense" player. She's intimately aware of the myriad roadblocks that exist for Hegemony employees. But she is not overly-frustrated by these roadblocks. Rather, she sees all corporate headaches as hurdles to be cleared as part of her normal corporate duties. She's fairly even-keeled - being neither exasperated by the company's corporate culture, nor forlorn when the company's culture works against her team.

he does not allow Hegemony's politics to get her down. Nor does she revel in the team's successes. In many cases, she perceives herself (accurately) to be the only one who can solve a quandary that is presented by members outside her team.

But she sees nearly all of these problems as "personal problems" that should be addressed by individuals to the best of their ability. This can sometimes come across as wanting the overall success of Hegemony International, but those who are close to her understand that she sees the Special Projects team as Priority #1, and everything else as a distant second. Although she feels beholden to the other members of the team, she's not above undercutting them if she feels it's for the greater good of Special Projects.
Tessa was indisposable in solving our little... problem. But now I'm in her debt. And sometimes I wake up in a cold sweat wondering just what that will mean.

Given the scope of her informal bargaining activities, she's always on the lookout for anything that will put anybody in her debt. It's rumored that she maintains a massive digital file that tracks all of these commitments - although no one has ever managed to find such a file within any corporate storage systems.

Hegemony standards), she tends to operate as something of an informal historian. She can recall all past members of the team with whom she worked. She retains oddly-specific minutiae about past-and-current coworkers, and she's not above using that information for personal gain when it suits her. She will often alarm her coworkers by retrieving seemingly-trivial facts that were only briefly discussed in long-past conversations.

hile she is always "busy", the other members of the team typically have no idea exactly what she is doing. When she's working on her laptop, she has a tendency to fiercely smash the keys - to the great annoyance of others in the office.

She can be especially brusque toward anyone who is new or unfamiliar with the ways of the Special Projects team. But she is far more personable with those who have gained her confidence. She does not suffer fools kindly and she has little patience for incompetence. But for those whom she trusts and/or respects, she can be disarmingly friendly - even... sweet.

er defining mannerism is her piercing stare. It is rare that she will verbally dress anyone down. But when someone has run afoul of her sensibilities, it's often painfully obvious by her withering gaze.
