orbert was previously a member of the Special Projects team. Once
Dontae Shukara was promoted to manager of this team, Norbert was the first person released when Dontae had to complete his first culling.

orbert has lived an exceedingly "normal" life. He's married with two high-school-age children. He's respected by neither his wife nor his kids, but he's insanely loyal to them and will do whatever it takes to ensure their comfort.

orbert had only ever worked for Hegemony International - until his culling at the hands of Dontae Shukara. He was never an exemplary employee, but neither was he problematic in any way. His performance was always deemed to be "middle of the road".
Mental Trauma

orbert's culling broke him, and it permanently set Dontae Shukara as his nemesis. While he will continue trying to provide for his family, he maintains a lasting and deep-seated resentment toward Dontae and he'll go to great lengths to exact revenge.
Although he possesses reasonable intelligence, the trauma of his culling haunts him. It undermines his ability to find commensurate employment with any other company. That trauma only grows worse every time he feels that he's foiled by Dontae.

e was always deeply disturbed by the inner workings of Hegemony, but he was also equally determined to stick with his employment come what may. He viewed many of his tasks as being borderline-ridiculous, but he steadfastly completed them to the best of his ability. His defining mantra was to simply... get by and ride out the daily fuckery until he could retire.

is driving goal was always to be granted retirement in Elysia. He didn't really care what he had to do, or what nonsense he must endure, as long as it eventually culminated in Elysia. It never seemed to dawn on him that his career path within Hegemony was one that almost certainly would not lead to such a reward. He blindly believed that someday, somehow, he would manage to earn his passage to Elysia. It only became painfully clear to him that this could never happen once he was jettisoned from the company.
Now that his lifelong dream has been utterly extinguished, his primary objective is to somehow extract revenge upon Dontae Shukara. While he's still keen to be an upstanding family man, those goals will be obscured if he ever sees an opportunity to bring Dontae down.
