Magic

There are two types of magics, moon and wild. As the three moons orbit the planet, they create a field of energy, turning living things a different color under the moonlight. Some plants and creatures carry the chemical needed to react with the various moonlights, providing enhance magical properties. Wizards harness these powers, which used is depleted until it becomes inert. The light from the moons recharge chemical and the cycle begins again.   During the full moons, those with the matching elements have a slight tint in their skin. Those with Xania properties will turn yellow, Dasijn's turn blue, and Flalib red. Should a creature or plant carry more than one, their skin becomes orange, purple, or green with the very rare turning white or rainbow. Only when the moons are at their peak will non-magic users be able to see it. The more powerful mages wear hooded robes to hide their glow because theirs is more pronounced. This is left over from the Kyliah Dynasty, when magic was illegal, and mages ran bounty hunters.   There is a fourth type of magic known as wild magic. This magic uses the energy or the spirit in living things. While nature magic is the most abundant of the magic's, it is also considered the weakest of the four magics because it only manipulation of living things.

Types of Magic

Yellow or Xania Magic   Xania Magic uses the light and is represented by the color yellow. Many will become orators or go into sales. Sometimes they become a Linguist hiding their talents by being a bard where they can weave magic into stories and song. When Xania in full in the sky, any living creature that has the yellow gene will have a golden tint to their skin.   Blue or Dasijn Magic   Dasijn Magic deals with the manipulation of liquids, mainly water. Usually, they specialize in potions and elixirs. When a Dasijn mages want to hide, they become Alchemist and sometimes a winemaker. Under a full Dasijn moon creatures have a blue glow.   Red  or a Flalib Magic   Flalib Mages work the earth and metals. They make everything from weapons to silverware. They are the rarest of the three moon mages they are also the most sought after for their ability to create magic devices.  When the Flalib is full, they glow a shade of red. Powerful Flalib mages are sometimes called the devil mage because they appear to be covered in a fiery glow.     Hauv, Wild or Elvin Magic   The planet is always being recharged with the moons orbits. Wild mage is a combination of all three, using plants and animals part of potions, commanding pockets of weather, and using animals to find rare minerals. They don't call people practicing wild magics mages or wizards, but Druids and Dryads. Those with a strong bond to Hauv magics will appear with a shade of green.

Type of Mages

Mage, Linguist   The Linguistic mage uses the power of language to cast their magic. It has the most immediate effect, with the shortest life, but is the most common mage. Linguist wizards may become bards, salesmen, barristers or any other profession where oratory skill is needed. One misconception is the words must be said out loud. This is false, but the person can whisper the incantation, and it will still work. It makes it harder for anyone else to hear the spell. Not everyone that uses their voice for a living is a wizard, in fact, less than 20% can cast a spell.   Mage, Artificer   The Artificer knows how to fold the magical energy into an item. Many Artificers will specialize in a specific type of material, like paper, wood, stone or metal. Some will take it even further and specialize in just armor, weapons, buildings, clothes and such. They often work with the Cabbalist to put symbols or spells on the Artificer’s work. Many smiths create great works no magical ability. However, a writer of glyphs can work with a non-magic user.   Mage, Cabbalist   Any mage, sorcerer, sorceress, wizard or witch can be a Cabbalist or a writer of magic symbols. There are several types, and because it is written, the same spell can be in several languages at once. They frequently work with Alchemist to create a special ink for the writings. Many papers are not magical by nature, sometimes they are written in ink with sorcery properties.   Mage, Alchemist   Alchemist imbues their magic into potions, elixirs, drinks, and food. They are masters mixers, taking a few ingredients and turning it into magical liquid or solid. Some become winemakers, brewers, and bakers and using their magic to create potions and foods that can heal or kill. Less than 5% of craftsmen can use magic, but sometimes the enhanced food is served with the regular stuff.   Spells   The spells are different for each type of magic, but similar spells have the same corresponding results. The most common example would be the sun sphere used by the Xania magic users, the lava ball thrown by the Flalib and the energy sphere by Xania mage.   Devices    Certain items like staves and amulets act as storage, allowing the wielder an increase of magic for casting a higher number of spells or more powerful ones. Wands have a specific enchantment put into the device.   Places   There are places around the world with an increased magical powers. Rumor says the ancient city of Thesila has the power of the magics ten times over.  Many runes, circles, and glyphs occur in nature and created by creatures that have magical properties.
