Meal

A meal is a time of day at which food is eaten.

History

A major event in recent history has been the introduction of the popular herbal beverage which is named after the afternoon teas, which is the time at which it is most widely consumed.

Execution

Typically, meals are eaten together with friends and family and are a social occasion.
Before eating, one prepares for the food by thanking for the food.
This should be directed towards all who helped make the meal possible and may include figures of importance, the general public or religious entities.
Popular thanks are recited in verse, such as this popular poem:
The mothers, the fathers,
And children of heart,
They all come together,
They all do their part.

The workers, they handle,
The cattle and plow,
To make sure we're able,
To eat something now.

The doctors and traders,
Send parcel and letter,
To make sure the ill,
Can soon feel much better.

The Queen, she works,
All day and all night,
To make sure that no-one,
Gets into a fight.

And Beth and Bri,
With their persistance,
We thank them both,
For our existence.
After eating, it is usual for all to assist in cleaning up.
Should those eating be served by others, such as waiters or butlers, they are expected not to interfere.

Components and tools

In Tightish culture, one typically eats with a knife, fork and spoon, although other implements may be used in less formal circles.

Observance

Typically, wealthy families eat meals at the following times (converted to a 24-hour day):
  • 6th hour: Worker's Breakfast
  • 8th hour: Second Breakfast
  • 10th hour: Mid-morning: Middles
  • 12th hour: Noon: Luncheon
  • 14th hour: Afternoon Tea
  • 16th hour: High Tea
  • 18th hour: Dinner
  • 20th hour: Supper
All meals are portioned as appropriate and it is rare that all meals are observed.
The most commonly observed meals are Worker's Breakfast, Luncheon, High Tea and Supper.
