Irnan
Irnan is the closest therianthrope city to oni territory and the furthest northern city that therianthrope reside in. Irnan was erected by a river in an area where building materials are limited. The land around the city is home to small shrub and tree growth, which makes poor structural material. The closest stone quarries are a few days’ journey away.
To conserve resources, Irnan was created using some unique building tactics. Irnan has no roads in the traditional sense. All the buildings are interconnected, sharing walls directly with its neighboring building. This gives the city a massive hive-like apprehended from above. All ‘buildings’ have hatches and ladders leading to the flat rooftops that are used as walkways. Walls of the city buildings are made from heat hardened mud-brick that is resistant to weathering. Roofs and walkways are lined with grasses to prevent wearing. The heart of the city has many open courtyards at ground level, with steps leading down to them. The courtyards are lined with open market stands, some bathhouses, and many other local hangouts.
The outer city walls are the only walls made from stone, and are made thicker and taller than the rest of the city walls. Simple rope landers line the out walls for beings to enter and leave the city. These ladders can be easily and quickly hoisted up during any potential attack.
