Haldare Venera

Constable of Tashal.
He is secretly Koris Harabor's lover and a fierce rival of Baron Wevran Ethasiel of Setrew Keep.
Of the constables, Haldare Venera of Tashal is arguably the most important.
Along with Koris Harabor, Marshal of the Royal Guard, Haldare protects the seat of government at Caer Elend in the city of Tashal.
A landless knight, Haldare won the melee at the Royal Chelebin Tournament seven years ago.
The king was so impressed with his skill that he elevated Haldare to his current post.
The city and castle guard adore their commander and would follow him even after the king perishes.
As with most landless knights, 41 year old Haldare is ambitious and wants to gain a manor for his family. A convincing offer might win his allegiance, especially if he is allowed to keep his position at Caer Elend.
Haldare does not want the manor for himself, since that would require him to marry, and Haldare is secretly homosexual.
He has been having a quiet affair with Koris for the last three years. The two men get along very well, but Haldare is unsure that Koris’s brother Sir Maldan Harabor is the right man to be king of Kaldor.
