Baron Wevran Ethasiel

Lord of Setrew Keep.
Another vassal of Earl Hemisen Curo of Gardiren, the 52 year old Baron Wevran Ethasiel holds the keep Setrew in the northwest Kaldor.
At a distance from their lord at Gardiren, clan Ethasiel has few ties to other noble houses in the kingdom.
Wevran has become a corrupt and rapacious lord, letting the Lia-Kavair use his lands as base for smuggling.
The nearest great lord, Sheriff Maldan Harabor in Olokand, knows about Wevran’s activities and has suborned the baron.
The two have an understanding that if the succession comes to war, the baron will support Maldan’s move to take the throne.
Wevran’s Lia-Kavair connections may help both men in that quest, though Wevran is an unreliable ally at best.
Wevran’s 28 year old son Romlach is considered one of the most brutally dangerous knights in the kingdom. His prowess in combat may be important in the battles for the throne. He and Haldare Venera, the Constable of Caer Elend in Tashal and another talented warrior, have long been rivals.
Motives: Increase his wealth. Keep his underworld ties secret. Get out from under Earl Curo.
