Valantar
The country of Valantar is by far the largest of all the nations on Hamanshiron, it’s traditional borders remain, The Great Arctic Sea to the North, the Mountains of Khadarin to the west, north and south, the Great Arctic sea to the north and the Miskalon Sea to the south. Border forts dot the mountains, sea forts cover the sea borders, not covered by the harbor cities.
Valantar is the oldest known country on Hamanshiron, over six thousand years it has stood, though to most it is only rumor and supposition, it is said that the long lost Nalqua, the sacred soldiers of the Light who disappeared at the end of the 5th Age, created the country, that the city of Valantaris and the Palace of the Light was from where their Kings and Queens ruled the world.
Valantar is around the same size as the United States of America
Structure
Valantar is a Republic, the representatives of the cities, towns and villages meet in the Great Valantar Representative Parliament, both the Upper (senate) and the Lower (Commons) house. All members of Parliament are there on single 5 year terms of service, though their terms are 2 and a half years apart, the Senators serve for two and a half years, then the next sitting of the Commons begins and there are a new batch of Commons Representatives to work with. Who serves in each house is drawn by Lottery, only serving members of the Valantar Military cannot serve as members of Parliament. The leaders of the Upper and Lower house are the only permanent positions, and even then their respective chambers can remove them (and are legally bound to do so) if any sign of corruption or malfeasance should be shown. The current Leader of the Upper House and defacto Head of State is Arkin Dalvin, who was one of the greatest Elven Hyur ball players in her younger days, and Moshan Talkiro, a former Eternal Commander of the Eternal Guard, who was granted special dispensation to , the Valantarian Armed Forces.
Local matters are looked after by the Clans, that all permanent residents of Valantar are members of. Each of them is welcomed into the clans when they reach the decision to stay permanently in the country and they diversify their clan and their country.
History
While the exact beginning of Valantar is vague, it is at least six thousand years old and was by local Legend, formed by the Nalqua, the fabled Warriors who walk in silence, and it is believed the humans of Valantar formed the clans to mimic the Nalqua, who were ruled by the King of Silence.
Demography and Population
Valantar population is 445 million made up of almost 40% of the population is human, the other goodly races are split between 5% and 10% , except for the Minotaurs who only make up around 1% of the population
Territories
The Entire of Valantar is their territory, while it is thought that at once the whole continent of Valantaria was at one time under the territory of Valantar, they have not to anybodies knowledge attempted to invade anywhere else.
Military
The Eternal Guard are the entire Military force in Valantar, they serve the Republic and not the President or the Prime Minister. They number close to 60,000 serving members around the country.
Religion
There is no Official religion in Valantar, but most of the temples of the Gods of the Celestium and Limbo have their main Temple in Valantaris.
