Sohani Daughter of Fahal (a.k.a. Sohani the Red)

Sohani the Red is one of the greatest heroes of Esirian history, she was the woman who led the country to Freedom during the 4th age, when most of the rest of the world was still under the Yoke of Evil.
Humble, strong and proud, she is the symbol of freedom in Esira, every town has a statue of her in their town centre, every City has a museum that has a section devoted just to her, and almost every home in the country has a icon or painting of her in their home.
Every year the Freedom festival is thrown in honour of her and the rest of the heroes of the fight for Freedom.

Because of her dancers training she was always very fit and agile, even into her late 40's when she died, she was lean and strong

Sohani would walk at almost a run, most of her warriors would have to almost run to keep up with her, she used her left hand to fire her bow but her right hand was dominant with her spears,

Apparel & Accessories

The reason Sohani was called the Red was due to her red leather armour she wore, many Esirian tribes wore armour consisting of a leather vest and kilt, with greaves and forearm guards, her father's tribe had done so before the Dark age, and she wore such, with a red wrap and cloak to cover it when she was in public.

Personal history

The woman who would become Sohani the Red was born in the city of Maribusa, the daughter of Fahal and Akara, a smith and a seamstress in the city, the youngest of four children, her two older sisters, Amala, Shara and older brother, Taglan, were teenagers before she was born, so she was the focus of her mother's attention for most of her childhood
Maribusa was one of the few cities if Esira that didn't have a massive Orkuun presence, many of the Noble houses of the city colluded with the Dark at the end of the Dark War.
She grew up in a happy home, she was raised to be a dancer with the Muknoma, the most famous Dancer Troupe in all of Esira, even to this day, but around her 12th birthday things changed, the Urhal Mijan, the Esirian resistance, became more prominent in the city, her father had been a smith for them for many years, and her brother was an operative. There was an attack on the local garrison that was botched, her brother was badly injured and arrested, her father's involvement with the Urhal was discovered and he along with her brother were arrested, tried and executed in a few short days all in front of her and her mother and sisters who were forced to watch as were all the families of the men and women who were part of the attack.
She, her sisters and mother were made destitute, and her chances of joining the Muknoma dashed when she was expelled from the Neemshule school of dance, they lived on the streets and the shanty town inside the city for almost two years, and began stealing from the rich in the city, getting into fights with bullies.
They stayed in the shanty town until her mother could marry her sisters off to men could provide an out for them, she and her mother moved in with her sister Amala and her new husband Cafur. But she could never settle, she was always getting into trouble, any Orkuun she would come across she would loose her veneer of calm, and would have to be held back by her friends from attacking them.
Around her 15th birthday, her father's former contact within the Urhal Mijan, Athnaka, offered her a chance to take her revenge. He introduced her to Harabi the Warrior Maiden of Khafala, who became her trainer. No matter the weapon, no matter the fighting style she picked it up very quickly.
For the next four years she and the rest of the Urhal Mijan would make hit and run raids on the Dark garrisons, until they liberated the city of Jaikado and held it for the next year, then took Hamaji and Khortal, and the rest of the freedom fighter bands of the country, joined forces to become the Army for the Freedom of Esira, by this point she had become the third in the chain of command of the Urhal.
She had become a formidable warrior and an expert at finding the weak spots in the enemy armies, where and when to attack weak spots in a city, and was a well respected leader. By no means was she infallible, she was captured by the Dark on a number of times, but every time she either escaped or was sprung from the jail by a local. She was a hero of the people, a symbol, and they loved her. It was during one of those times that she got her eye taken out by the torturers of the Orkuun in Jamara, she refused to give them the location of the contact for the Freedom fighters in the city. They left her for dead once they had taken the eye and she was healed by a shaman who had been captured but they didn't know what he was otherwise he would have been killed outright. He couldn't give her back her eye however. A few days later she was let out of the prison by a local, she took the shaman, Iomal the Wise, with her.
Two years after the forming of the Army for the Freedom of Esira, the Leader, Kamarial the Slayer, was killed in battle, and the leaders of the Army voted for her to take charge. She accepted and would lead them for the next six years until the 1st battle of Nyumba, where they finally overthrew the Yoke of the Dark.
When they were deciding who would become the leader of the new Free Nation of Esira, she was offered the position of Queen, which she promptly refused, she was a good warrior and leader of warriors but she was never fit to be a leader of a nation.
She would continue to lead the Free Kingdom Esira's army for many years as it's Commander in Chief, freeing the Lands around Esira from the Yoke of Darkness, returning home often to see her family and rest and recuperate.
She was killed just after her 47th birthday, she was still fighting in the front ranks, still leading by example, this time fighting the Haranga Orkuun clan who were Garrisoning the city of Islaniro, the current capital of Islamir, at the end of the 3rd age had been six different countries, when the battle was over, her forces had won but she wasn't anywhere to be found. Her warriors looked all over the battlefield and found her, six spears piercing her body but Orkuun bodies piled around her.
She was returned to Esira in state, he body held in an energy field to keep it from decaying by the sorcerers of her army, every place they passed had been liberated by her and her armies, until they returned to Nyumna where she had a funeral fit for a Queen. There was a country wide week of mourning.
She was buried in the crypt of the Palace of Nyumba where she remains to this day.

Not much truth is actually known about her sexuality, some scholars surmise she would become lover to Athanka, even though he was many years her senior, some posit that she was lover to Harabi, and there are many other tales of both men and women, most scholars agree that she was most likely attracted to people rather than a sex.

Sohani was an adept speaker, was extremely confident in most social circles, had her Ego very much in check, knew what she was good at and what she was bad at and only ever spoke about what subjects she was knowledgeable in, until she learned more of the subjects she wasn't. Sohani has a very light quiet voice, often mistaken for passiveness, even into her 40s many would mistake her voice for that of a teenager before they saw her. She said it how it was, if she liked you she told you, if you didn't she told you that as well, she despised cursing and swearing, often chiding her soldiers for their language.

While she died as a General of the Esirian free army, she still lived a modest life, her home in Nyumba was a modest two floor in the street of Peace which she left to her favorite nephew Afgari and it remained his family for generations until the government bought it and it was turned into a national monument with a nice big plaque in the front, which would have horrified Sohani. Because she was modest in her living her family as a whole inherited what would be now 30 million Esirian Gold Sentira. Her family are now one of the richest and most influential families in Esira, eight thousand years later, helping serve the rest of Esira with money that was possible because of her.
