Manusigns

Core Principles of Manusigns

Manusigns is a skill taught to advanced members of the Magical Community, allowing them to communicate silently, perform stealthy magic, and even heighten their magical abilities by integrating physical intent into their spell casting.   Use Manusigns is used when silence is paramount, such as in stealth operations or in situation where speaking is impossible. it's also useful in performing magic that might be disrupted by noise or when the mage needs to focus solely on their intent and the flow of their magical energy. Mages can use Manusigns to communicate silently with each other during cooperative spells or rituals, ensuring coordination without breaking concentration. Manusigns are also used to enhance or contain a spell or ritual.

Elemental Gestures

These are the foundational gestures that represent the primary elements. These are used when calling and releasing the four corner in a ritual, approaching an elemental for spellwork, or asking for protection from the element.
  • Earth - downward press
  • Air - a circular motion
  • Fire - a sharp upward thrust
  • Water - horizontal sweep of the hand
  • Spirit - hand over heart, then moving it outward and upwards

Intent Gestures

These gestures communicate the purpose of the spell or ritual. They are using in conjunction with the elemental gestures to direct with power and purpose.
  • Sending - Pushing the hands outward
  • Attracting - Pulling the hands inward
  • Protection - Crossing the hands, palms facing outward
  • Warding - Crossing the wrists, palms facing outward
  • Healing - Hands hovering over the affected area

Power Modifiers

These gestures convey the intensity or duration of the spell. They are used to keep the spell from overwhelming the mage or fizzling out.
  • Extra Power - Larger motions when performing gestures
  • Precise Power - Smaller motions when performing gestures
  • Short-term Effect - Rapid repetition of the gestures.
  • Long-lasting Effect - Slow, drawn out gestures

Directional Gestures

These gestures indicate where the spell's effect is to be directed or from where the power is drawn.
  • Single Point - Pointing
  • Area Effect - Sweeping
  • Direction - Guiding

Complex Spells and Rituals

More complex spells require a series of gestures. The order of the gestures would be crucial. The rhythm plays a role. Also, how gestures are combined could change different effects, modifiers, or who answers a call.
Remember: Manusigns is a language that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The gestures could be slow and graceful, quick and sharp, or a mix of both, depending on the magic being performed. The language can be personalized to the mage, with each practitioner adding their own flair to the gestures, making their magickal 'handwriting' distinguishable to others who are versed in Manusigns.
