Aethasian Species in Hall of Doors - Ustehall | World Anvil

Aethasian

"The Aethasians were the precursors to the Elves as we know them today. They were one group with different ethnicities embedded within. These ethnicities influenced how we see elves today and classify them as different races."
— From the History of Mytilias, Chapter: Elven Culture: How They Began By Erki Tarihi, Abalindi Beholo Historian

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Aethasians' slender and lithe build is their hallmark. It distinguishes them from other species. Their supple bodies allow them to move with incredible agility and sustain their endurance. This makes them fearsome in the use of magic. Their pointed ears, a defining feature of modern Elven species, allowed them to hear things beyond the capabilities of the average person.

Biological Traits

Aethasians were naturally long-lived. Their bodies healed faster than humans. They had an inherent resistance to disease, both mundane and magickal.

Genetics and Reproduction

Aethasians reproduced in a manner that closely resembled human reproduction. Their physical diversity in the current Elven species owes much to genetic traits such as skin tone, hair color, and eye color that varied greatly among Aethasians.

Growth Rate & Stages

Aethasians mature and age slower than their human counterparts. Their adolescence starts at the age of 50, and they are considered adults at the age of 100.

Ecology and Habitats

The continent currently known as Ofay was the Aethasian's origin. Originally, they lived in harmony with nature, often making their homes in verdant forests and along rivers. Their affinity for magick often led them to live in high concentration of Nahiri.   However, as their culture stagnated and became overwhelmed with prejudices, their ability to feel and work with Nahiri plummeted. Eventually, the only Aethasians that could still work with Nahiri were the Tharun. The Tharun was such a small percentage that it could not revive the species as a whole.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Aethasians were primarily vegan, though a small subset ate eggs and dairy. Their magickal skill extended to agriculture. This gave them bountiful harvests which sustained their people.

Biological Cycle

Aethasians were similar to other humanoid races int hat they were active during the day and rested at night.

Behaviour

Despite their intelligence and intuition, various prejudices plagued Aethasians' society. The collapse of their civilization and their eventual extinction resulted from these deep-seated biases. The Tharun were the only ethnic group to make a positive and lasting impact by opposing discriminatory practices and promoting harmony and acceptance.
