Revenant
Revenants are a broad class of Irradiated creature that take the shape of those who died in the chaos wastes and attach themselves to people, places, or objects that were important to the person they are imitating.
Many revenants are built (at least partially) from the physical body of the person who died. Some revenants are not so easily explained and exist by the whims of the Ederstone. Most curiously, some revenants form of people who are still alive - though these imitators are usually called Doppelgangers in instead.
Like all irradiated phenomenon, revenants may have similar traits but fail to consistently follow clear rules. Each revenant often has a specific 'code' of actions, emotions, and intent that it follows, but these are not consistent between revenants. Many revenants are both unpleasant and dangerous: they begin by impersonating the dead, entering their old home for a moment of miraculous welcome, then horribly "dying" in front of their loved ones before reforming nearby and "returning" to start the cycle over again. As their loved ones become hostile, the revenant often becomes agitated and begins acting out on threads of mostly-forgotten impulses and relationships. As the situation deteriorates, the revenant becomes increasingly violent. Only the destruction of the revenant's true form or the resolution of whatever internal code the revenant has can resolve the issue then.
Many revenants are less abrasive. They might quietly watch their old home from a distance or seek to ritually pursue the "life goals" of the deceased without real intent or desire in the wasteland. It is not uncommon for revenants to mix in with enthralled people.
In extremely rare instances, revenants and doppelgangers are able to successfully reform as a fully aware version of the copied person. In these cases, the monster carries the memories of that person and personality - often, the more stable the imposter becomes, the more they are cut off from any monstrous abilities they might have. It is difficult to gauge how often this occurs. It has only been recorded in exceptional instances but it is possible that it may have occurred more often without detection. It is worth noting that a fully-aware revenant is not, magically speaking, a resurrection so much as it is a perfect copy; the original retains a distinct 'soul' that is able to be magically revived without displacing the copy.
Socially capable but malevolent revenants are similarly exceptionally rare but can happen. This sort of creature would use the memories and appearance of the original to escape detection while its hunts its prey. Sometimes this prey is the enemies (or friends) of the deceased, but some drain the life of mortals to sustain and empower themselves. These very rare revenants tend to be classed on their own - they could be called "vampires", though they may not follow folkloric rules about sunlight, garlic, water, etc.
The less self-aware the revenant is, the more reactive they are to "impulses" or "moods" of their wasteland. When violence enflames a chaos waste and causes creatures to begin rampaging, revenants may become more active and violent. In such cases, it is not uncommon for enthralled people and revenants to join together in attacking "trespassers" or "invaders".
