Pepperfruit

The pepperfruit is a spice plant from Stildane, which can only grow in the magically-irradiated soil of the continent. It is itself an Ederstone-shaped plant, shaped many centuries ago by irradiated "spirits" there.
The pepperfruit tree is slender and fragile, though quite beautiful: its smooth branches are curl in delicate leafy spirals that give the plant a very curated and symmetrical appearance even when untrimmed. The soft bark is black, smooth, and a little shiny, as if polished. Its leaves have trident-like shapes, and its fruit are purple-and-red globes that almost look like huge smoothed-out raspberries. 
The pepperfruit's fruit are unpleasant to eat, but can be dried and ground into a substance akin to black pepper or peppercorn. 
The Kingdom of Dovenar is the top producer of pepperfruit and its derived spices, though the trees can be found across Northern and middle Stildane.
