Lord Wellim Bakari

Lord Mayor Wellim Bakari may once have been known as a competent and capable paragon of bureaucracy, but he is now the archetypcal corrupt politician. Wellim has learned to look after his own skin only, and has turned his political skills towards personal gain. Still, he is not selfish and not evil: he has made himself an ally of the Gods, so long as they keep winning. 
Wellim is a selfish, cynical, and cowardly man who openly pursues his own interests regardless of the cost. He revels in the offense he gives to more proper nobles; he knows that things are falling to pieces and that social standing won't mean much soon enough. 
Wellim initially supported the rebellion of Lord Usurper Kelka Akuzir, but was moved to betray the Usurper through a mixture of bribes and intimidation by Prince Mazaru Eramzir. Now, Wellim is doing the same thing all over again by freeing the Usurper in support of Makar Mesaba's new rebellion. Makar has promised Wellim that he will become the temporary Prince of the Vice-Kingdom of Mikena after the old Prince dies; a good position to hoard money and liquidate assets to flee the empire entirely. Wellim knows about the end of the world and is eager to cash out and live out his remaining days on some nice beach somewhere.
